Oh and RM being "knee deep" in debt is nonsense.
According to Kicker RM are €900m in debt.
compared to
Barca €1,2bn
Inter €630m
A.Madrid €522m
Juventus €458m

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Most of that debt pertains to the stadium. That loan is to be repaid over 20 years.
I don’t know about the rest but in Madrid case it isn’t infrastructure long term loan, but rather they don’t have funds to buy players like Mbappe and Haaland.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Per the financial statements Bill, they're only showing 130mil of debt for the stadium and sport city works... 770 million was for everything else. They're projecting a 100 million loss on 600 mil of revenue.
So my guess is that the club had to take on even more debt. This is a pre-pandemic financial statement and projections:
https://www.realmadrid.com/StaticFiles/RealMadridOAS/pdf/AnnualReportRealMadrid2020.pdf
Balance sheet is on page 212
So 900 mil of debt, 130 mil of which is for the stadium... and a projected 100 mil loss which will require more capital.

all this cos of the super league? lmao, people, it wasnt successful and its not that deep tbh. i want to believe they are more frustrated at the running of the club and that has led to a boiling point than the super league fiasco.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
I believe its far more than the ESL. American owners are shit and have no idea about european football in general. Its just another business for them. They have disdain for the club's fanbases and heritage. The fact that all of it was started by and for the working class. #pissoff

Just to add to Myesyats point... Bordeaux was just abandoned by an NYC money management firm. Before the Qataris, PSG was mismanaged by Colony Capital. OM is owned by that dunce Frank McCourt.
Very poor ownership record for US in Ligue 1. Not one positive there.

It's simply 3 entitled clubs, run by 3 entitled presidents, that can't accept that they've lost the ability to dictate the terms of club football in Europe. The center of power doesn't lie with them anymore.
The fall is going to be very hard unless all 3 are willing to compete as opposed to ask for entitlements built into a class structure.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
These 3 clubs are acting like they have any sort of leverage, even with all 12 on board that’s tough
But I don’t know what Uefa wants, there’s simply no project. There’s no games, no schedule, nothing at all
Asking these clubs to come and kiss the ring or be faced with a 2 year arbitrary ban enforces that Uefa is also a bunch of moral idiots
Jake Paul vs Logan Paul basically, only losers here

UEFA is an association like FIFA. By agreeing to membership, you agree to their rules. Are they corrupt? Absolutely. But so is every political body in the world... that's no suprise.
I'm not against something overthrowing UEFA and FIFA. BUT, I am completely against anti-competitive, elitist and entitled crap. You don't change something for the sake of change... it has to be better. Super League is a complete load of hot steamy shit.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
I’m with you sports. I am wholeheartedly against the super league from its inception
I just think sanctioning the 3 remaining idiots is purely an egotistical move devoid of any rational basis
Can they simply decide these 3 teams are banned? For what? Planning a failed league, playing zero unauthorized matches, receiving $0 in revenue from this source that never even materialized?
It’s a reach

is it true that if 70% of the club were to quit that remaining clubs will be able to legally proceed with the SL? i read in football italia ...

Disappointed how Florentino is still committed to this charade. Throw in the towel before ye get us kicked off of CL fool.
Re: The European Super League Megathread
Theres no way these 3 clubs will be banned from anything. It is not a financially viable option for UEFA and everybody knows only money talks. Empty threats as such are part of the negotiation. UEFA does only what makes profit and banning Messi and Ronaldo from CL would result in the exact opposite.

Out of the many, many, many embarrassing things Florentino has done, this super league crap is by far the most embarrassing.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Despite FIFA publicly criticising the Super League, they were aware of the project and participated in private discussions with the clubs concerned.

Infantino was actively involved with this as well. That's why I guess the likes of Perez was probably unperturbed by any potential sanctions.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Surprised to see no comments about Madrid and Juve absolutely washing UEFA in European courts this week. Even if there wasn’t an actual trial, UEFA was warned by Swiss court that they can’t punish the « so called » SuperLeague clubs.
Meanwhile all the Clubs that ran away but are still contractually in the SuperLeague committed to give 15 millions to UEFA as an apology… lol

Get your facts straight... the teams that left the Farce League are taking the remaining ones to court to force dissolution (which is what's written in the operating agreement). UEFA is legally required to punish all of them or none of them as things currently stand because the operating agreement hasn't been officially challenged (yet). The clubs have only served a notice to ask for dissolution. UEFA can't cherry-pick right now because the basis of the action was being part of the Farce League. Well, legally, they're all still part of it. So, they have to stop the action, wait for the dissolution procedure to play out more, and then they can cherry-pick the remaining clubs without being forced to include the others.
They have to wait for things to happen in a certain sequence.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Regardless of any of this, the lawmakers (politicians) could actually change the laws and/or make it impossible for this to happen. That's the alternative.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
Let’s try to pretend that UEFA did not make a big show of announcing they were reviewing sanctions against Juve Madrid and Barca… only to run tails a few days later because of that court ruling. You can say it however way you want but this is a big L for UEFA and Ceferin.
Lol at uefa can’t punish just a few clubs bla bla bla

Re: The European Super League Megathread
If you don't understand the law, that's not my fault.
UEFA wasn't aware of the details of the operating agreement when they started proceedings. They found out later and, given their agreement with the EPL clubs, they can't proceed right now without being forced to punish them too... and that would run contrary to the settlements they reached. They need to clear the injunction in Madrid (that was handed over the European courts), get themselves in line the Swiss authorities' process, make their settlements fit legally into all this, and then move forward again.
Basically, the Madrid court is a local court in terms of European jurisdiction. The decision is being appealled to the EU courts. Given the political mood around this, I would bet quite a bit that the ruling gets overturned.
This isn't going away. Just delayed. A few legal hurdles need to clear first. The political statement needed to be made though by pressing the charges immediately.. and now it's time to let the process take over.
