Re: Champions League 2016-17 | Group E
It shouldn't be easy for Tottenham, but Spurs took 4 points of 6 against Monaco last year (who have only weakened, right? Don't keep updated on them). Bayer Leverkusen is actually pretty decent and CSKA is in Russia which always makes the away games difficult.
Spurs and Leverkusen should go through, but I don't think it will be as easy for either of them as it looks. Spurs fans should be pretty happy, even if it's not Leicester level luck, they've certainly got the better of the draw here.

Re: Champions League 2016-17 | Group E
Monaco strengthened. Falcao is back, got Germain back after a great season from Nice, signed Sidibe the RB from Lille (France NT player now), signed Mendy the LB from Marseille, signed Glik the CB for Poland who had a very good Euro (Carvalho left thankfully)... and Moutinho, Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva are all healthy unlike last year.
Haven't sold anyone yet either.
If all stays the same, they are MUCH better. Only loss is Toulalan... but he was aging. Had slowed down a lot last year.
The unknown guys to watch are Thomas Lemar and Boschilia... very good kids.
They're also looking to drop 30 mil on this Brazilian kid (he was in olympics; forgot name).
Also, they may sell Fabinho and sign Ignacio Camacho from Espanyol.

My thoughts exactly. Well matched teams (which might be due the fact that all of them are chokers) with Spurs slightly edging.VivaStPauli wrote:A bit death'ish though, that group.

Spurs are overrated.
These are all good teams with huge potential for surprises. Even CSKA.
My prediction:
1. Neverkusen
2. Monaco
3. Spurs
4. CSKA

I can predict Spurs will get kicked out of the last 32 round of Europa League again.

Re: Champions League 2016-17 | Group E
Watched the extended highlights, looked like a smash and grab from Monaco. Two defensive errors leading to two goals for Monaco, who's only shots on goal were...the two goals.
Spurs with an abundance of chances and could have won. Sometimes it's not your day. Kind of like the Arsenal-PSG game, really. Only difference is Tottenham did the dominating
I'm not worried about this. Spurs beat Monaco 4-1 at Monaco last season.

.. except that we were playing away and we actually got a point out of it
What's with Spurs' obsession with Arsenal?

Re: Champions League 2016-17 | Group E
The Monaco that the Spurs faced last season to beat them 4-1... was so injured that it was forced to play Toulalan-Wallace at CB, Echiejile-Dirar at fullbacks. Pasalic was forced to start at CM. And of course, Lacina Traore was the CF. It was a complete make shift team. Not to mention Monaco didn't give a rat's arse about Europa given they needed bodies for Ligue 1 at the time.
Now compare this to the current healthy team. Keep in mind, Germain didn't even start in this one and, imo, he's great. Mendy was suspended as well forcing Raggi to play as a fullback and Sidibe to move to LB.
Monaco completely controlled the Spurs. It's the Spurs' job to create play at home, not Monaco away. The 2nd half created literally no worries for Monaco. Why would they play differently if the Spurs are unable to cope?
This Monaco team is good. They didn't lose their entire team over the summer, thus forcing Jardim to spend a lot of the season building up cohesion and figuring out who can play. This offseason, they lost nobody of note and added Sidibe, Mendy, Falcao, Germain, Glik and Boschilia.
I personally think they're going to give PSG a run for Ligue 1 as long as they stay healthy. If they start getting injured, they don't have the depth however.

Re: Champions League 2016-17 | Group E
Spurs won't win a single game at Wembley imo. The size of the pitch, the different atmosphere, and the fact they have to adjust from WHL makes games that much more difficult for them, and other teams will go there and up their game because it's such an inconic venue.
