Re: Ligue 1 16/17 Thread
Congrats to Monaco, they have kept improving the last few seasons and what a good one we have seen this year, full of goals and exciting. Hope they continue it and not let French league be just one team. Also good to see another French team able to really compete in CL too

Re: Ligue 1 16/17 Thread
Ligue 1 ended today.
Monaco fielded a B team and they still won. Finished with 95 points.
PSG couldn't wait to end the season. Drew 1-1
Lyon-Nice decided to match Dortmund-Werder but could only end the game at 3-3. Lyon failed to protect the lead like 3 times. Nice got the last second equaliser.
That means Lyon and Marseille will be in the EL along with Arsenal.
Lorient, Nancy and Bastia got relegated.
Cavani ended the season with 35 goals.

best the season has been in years
can comfortably say that having watched 0 Ligue 1 games in the last 4 seasons
can't wait to see this Monaco side picked clean and PSG to walk it again next year

Re: Ligue 1 16/17 Thread
Yea. Highly doubt anyone other than PSG are winning the title next season but you never know. All depends on who stays at Monaco.
IF Jardim stays along with key Monaco players then they can definitely go at it again. Monaco have another great talent coming in with Gil Dias who is on loan to Rio Ave. Could replace Bernardo if he leaves or Lemar.
Marseille are trying to build a good team so they'll be one to watch too but probably won't get into top 2.
Nice needs to buy quite few players and hope Plea comes back as good. But if Favre leaves then they are not finishing top 5.

Re: Ligue 1 16/17 Thread
Monaco will be ok. Gabriel Boschilia is a very talented kid they bought from Brazil for 9 mil euros at the age of 19. He's shown a ton of promise but just can't get time as the other AMs are great. They also bought Jorge, who play for Brazil U20, that will get his chance. Then you have Cardona who is going to be a very good pure 9 imo.
The other thing to keep in mind is that Monaco spends. Not all of their money from transfers... but they reinvest 2/3 per their business model. So if you sell Mbappe, Bakayoko, Lemar, Sidibe, Mendy and Bernardo Silva... you are looking at 300 mil euros. They will reinvest 200 mil of that. Maybe not all this summer, but over the next 12-18 months.
Tielemans is already widely rumored to come to the rock. Radamel Falcao wants to stay. They will keep Fabinho, Subasic, Glik, Moutinho, Dirar, Toure, etc.
As they usually do... they will pillage the U20 talent in France and opportunistically look in South America.
May not be as good as this year but they will be plenty good.
Key is Jardim staying.

Police raid head office of PSG and the houses of Di Maria, Pastore and some other Argentine scrub form Nantes. They have been under investigation for tax evasion since December after Football Leaks detailed some of their arrangements.
