Serie B side. We won 1-0 off a Fazio header.
Vermaelen made his debut too.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
Spalletti:
I think he'll go to Liverpool tbh.
“Paredes is a strong player in our opinion, and we want to use him, but sometimes in a transfer market like this you can use strong players to fund the transfer market, so that affects everyone.
“It’s like that for Napoli too, who wanted to keep [Gonzalo] Higuain [who went to Juventus].
“For that reason we can’t say what our thinking is absolutely, because there are so many things to be taken into account and that doesn’t just apply to Paredes.
“For me he’s a good player and he’ll stay at Roma.”

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
Completely indifferent to selling him. We either get money or we get his talent. Either way, midfield is our strongest area so if we do sell him, we'll probably survive.

rincon wrote:He was kinda lost when he first joined but he exploded again in Empoli. This Empoli side is extremely well managed, first by Sarri and now by Giampaolo, I'd want all my youth players there if Juve didn't already have Sassuolo (a similar youth hub).
Rugani (juve)
Tonelli (Napoli)
Zielinski (Napoli)
Paredes (Roma)
Mario Rui (Roma)
Saponara (still at Empoli)
Paredes looks ready to star in Roma with Pjanic gone and Strootman's doubts of how he will be. Its hard that technical players don't succeed with Spalletti, he tailors his tactics 100% to the kind of player Paredes is.

He gave the pass before the assist for the 3rd and 4th goal. He came off the pitch at the end of the game due to injury.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
He was quiet by his standards today and probably overshadowed by Strootman and Nainggolan's dynamic displays, but he was good nonetheless. Here's hoping the injury's just a knock like Manolas'.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
And?
PSG want rid of him 6 months into his stint, so he clearly isn't good enough as it's not difficult to be a PSG squad player, just look at Chopo-Moting.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
He isn't the first good player to struggle to adapt to a new team and he won't be the last.
I mean his circumstances when he joined PSG weren't the best. He was playing in Russia and was coming off a 2 month break. PSG had an injury crisis and he was shoehorned into the team right away.
There's a big difference in intensity between the two leagues + lots of automatisms involved playing as a DM for Tuchel. Again, there are a lot of factors at play regarding his early struggles.
Even then his struggles are overstated. I've watched a fair bit of his PSG games and he really hasn't been that bad. He had that one bad slip-up where they conceded a goal in the last min, but most of the criticism has been overblown. The French media just needed a target for PSG's awful late season form and the 45M new boy who replaced their Parisian, Rabiot, was their target.
Either way what do PSG fans expect? He's not Kante. He's closer to a poor man's Busquets. He lacks athleticism so he's pretty bad at 1v1 defending and isn't a robust screen in front of the defense. However in terms of counter pressing and covering angles he isn't bad at all.
There are plenty of great DM's who had the same issues.
Also go wash your mouth with the Chopo-Moting comparison. If you ever actually watched Paredes you can clearly see he's a talented player, while Chopo-Moting is a meme ffs.
Anyways there are no doubts in my mind, that he'll step it up this season and solidify his starting place at PSG. Y'all will eat crow as per. Quote me on this.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
He is talented but he is a douchebag and doesn't apply himself enough. Won't amount to too much on the track he is in. He failed at Roma due to his own faults, PSG overpaid.

Indeed, but perhaps with less sense of career paths. Zenith was a questionable choice and PSG is absolutely not a place to improve your attitude.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
Never heard of any reports of him having a bad attitude let alone close to what you hear about Rabiot.
Any sources to your claims aside from the fact he looks like a dbag?

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
No one looks that much like a dbag without being a dbag especially considering that Paredes used to look more like a normal guy in Empoli.
But that is secondary. The problem is that since Empoli Paredes has failed to establish himself as the player his talent suggested. He was in that Sarri/Giampaolo wave in Empoli were midfielders looked much better than they are (Valdifiori?). Spalletti at Roma had a great setup and Paredes was exactly the kind of player they needed. Clearly De Rossi, Strootman, Nainggolan were the starters when Pjanic left, but Paredes was an ideal sub/replacement for the style of the first 2, but he failed. He become too passive, too casual, the touch is not enough unless you have the touch of Pirlo.
Compare the agressiveness/workrate of the other Spalletti graduates: Pjanic, DDR, Strootman, Nainggolan. That's what Paredes gradually became worse at. He is not complete enough as it is, and doesn't look like he will be if he stays in this track (6 months at PSG and already exit talk?)
I heavily question if he has the mentality to succed at a top club with big pressure.

Re: Leandro Paredes: The Next Big Thing
I liked him a lot personally. The split with us was pretty amicable from what I remember, even though Spalletti's system was too demanding for him, I believe. The Roman media are not shy about trying to air dirty laundry, as we've seen over the last few months, so that alone says a fair amount. Talented player though. It sucked to lose him to the FFP kraken, but he was ambitious so we would've sold him anyway.
