Good acting, directing and music as you would expect but a meh plot. To be fair I didn't know what I was getting into before watching, but I'll give it a few more episodes to see where this is going.

I heard that you need patience to let it grow on you in the first couple of episodes - based on critic previews

Yeah same here. It wasn't mind-blowing, but I didn't expect it to be. It's ambitious though, as we knew it would be. The scale this could take on is a lot to imagine.
The pilot was very promising, I think.

Re: Westworld || HBO
Great pilot I thought. Very high production value, acting, cinematography, score, etc.
The concept is very difficult so it's certainly going to take a few episodes to build upon for the viewers to grasp it fully.
It has the looks of a mindblowing show though. Definitely worth watching imo.
-------------------------------------
Now on to the plot and spoilers
So Dolores is malfunctioning but she has the capacity to evade being put down. She certainly lied to management and she definitely knows something is wrong with her world. She also knows to keep it to herself. Killing the fly so casually A lot of questions in that pilot

Loved it. Can't wait to watch the next episodes. Also what is up with HBO casting Danes constantly.

Ed Harris was so badass: "Seems like you're not the man you thought you were."

Re: Westworld || HBO
Fly doesn't cause them to freeze. The androids are programmed to never hurt a living thing so they never swat at flies, even to remove them from their face Which is why Dolores killing one at the end should lead to some interesting things
Going from the trailers and promos I thought that maybe this Westworld was a virtual reality that guests would pay to visit but seems like it's an actual park somewhere filled with androids.

Westworld Ratings: HBO's biggest premiere in nearly 3 years, with 3.3 million viewers
------------------
Fantastic pilot, loved everything

Fantastic pilot, loved everything
- Spoiler:
- I think Ford is playing a game on the staff, scheming all this up for whatever reason, the whole speech about 'indulge me and error or 2' leads me to believe this. However, that would be too easy, we do not know if these are AI who have limited singularity or whatever self-educating is called. McAgger is spot on with the fly and Dolores at the end, it is clear that she lied, this will lead back to what Ford is trying to do i think (see how live subjects interact with the hosts)
Also, this isn;t a simulation, its pretty clear with how the staff intervene, this has to be one of the floors (there's like 80+ floors)
It isn't going to be metaphysical like Mr Robot, too many shows cheapreroute that way, this gives me an Ex Machina feel

Re: Westworld || HBO
ppl on another site were discussing this and there's an official website tie-in 'discover west world' and ppl are speculating regarding where West World could be located
- Spoiler:
- The Discover West World site mentions needing to be work with your local port authority to chart a course to the park after booking your stay
Which implies an island or somewhere off world (i.e. charting a course through waters or through space)
I also noticed this, "LEAVING THE PARK
Even humans need to recalibrate — Westworld is an experience like no other and we have designed the world's finest decompression chamber: the Mesa Gold."
Interesting choice of words. Underwater world?

Yet to see the first episode
But just came to say that the 2nd episode has been released
But just came to say that the 2nd episode has been released
Heads up, Westworld fans: The second episode of the sci-fi breakout series has been released early by HBO. You can watch Westworld Ep. 2 right now on HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO On Demand.
And no — HBO’s scheduling computer isn’t rebelling against its network masters by leaking the episode. The early release is actually a crafty way of getting the next hour of the series out from under Sunday night’s second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The Westworld premiere was seen by 3.3 million viewers last Sunday, HBO’s biggest series premiere draw since True Detective debuted nearly three years ago. The news was first announced via HBO’s promotional site DiscoverWestworld.com.

Re: Westworld || HBO
Theres this one doubt I have.
- SPOILER:
- That crazy story writer guy said there are 200+ active storylines right ? And everytime there's a reloading happening they start with that same train sequence where the guests are arriving and the girl is getting out of bed. So why's that. Is that simply because she's the heroine of the show and that they have just chosen to show that particular point of view ?
If theres 200+ active story lines we are only getting to see max 10 of them.
Or by 'active' stories were they implying all these insignificant sub plots too?? I didnt really get that part.

Re: Westworld || HBO
Still not sure how I feel about this.
The pace and sophistication, I am afraid, is not geared for mass audiences. Can lose viewership very quickly if that happens

Second episode is just the extension of the prologue. They really need to kickstart the story. Hope it will happen in E03.

GoT suffered in quality massively when they decided to go more mass oriented. We only need as much viewership as for them to continue making it. I take a quality show any day over a mass phenomenon such as Game of Thrones tbh.
If the show's good people will watch however sophisticated the shit is as evidenced by the success of movies such as Inception and Interstellar. Still feel tho they should have squeezed Chris Nolan's name somewhere in the credits lol. His name alone sells for lot of guys.

Re: Westworld || HBO
10 episodes
-------------------------
Watched Episode 1.
It's good. Enjoyed the pilot
I just hope this doesn't end the way Ex Machina did because that would be the most cliche ending ever.
It's really ambitious though and the production quality is great. Hopefully Christopher Nolan directs one or two episodes
