Re: SF: France Vs Germany
Cant wait for the kommander to bring home the trophy
France won nearly every bloody header. Pepe to show these scrubs how to make Griezmann innefective and win every header

Doesn't really matter if you're the best in the tournament when you end up not winning it. Only winning matters.
This is the most brainless truism of football discussion. Of course winning is not all that matters, else you'd check results instead of watching games.
I'm sure in two years, people will have forgotten all about France winning the euro and will be only talking about how you played well and didn't win it.
I'm also pretty sure they give trophies for teams who played well but didn't win the tournament.
Is your memory so bad that in two years you won't remember having watched this game? Only the result?
The second the final whistle goes, everything in our head vanishes except a couple of numbers?
Again. Most brainless truism in football.
People who keep repeating this line "only winning matters", and its variations "history remembers winners", "in 10 years time this and that" are basically declaring themselves mental midgets by saying it.

Only since they went 2-0 down really, they deserve exactly what they got imo. Up until the 2nd goal Lloris didn't have much to do outside of a save in the first 10 mins.

Completely deserved victory from France. They were completely outclassed in the first half but they turned it around in the second half.
Congratulations to France for winning the euro!

Re: SF: France Vs Germany
Deschamps tactics to the tee... he figured that without a 9, Germany's possession would lead to likely very little. So he set up the counter attack.
We will take over possession against Portugal.
Griezmann is a stud.

Re: SF: France Vs Germany
Of course nobody is going to remember how it was won unless it is something unique that very few teams will do. Including Underdogs Greece winning the EC against favourites Portugal, or Chelsea parking their way to CL trophy with like an average of 20% posession or Spain/Barca dominating all trophies with like 100% posession. See these are exceptional circumstances that kind of stick in your head. Nobody is going to remember how Germany won the last WC heck i have even forgotten lol

Saw a lot of posts along these lines at half time but it's nonsense. What did Germany create in the first half? France had 2 very good chances plus the penalty and were extremely comfortable defensively the entire half. They could've gone into the break 2 or 3-0 up if anything.

Iceland fans in France were so great and had so much fun... that everyone was drawn to them. Just very nice people. That's why you see the celebrations of Iceland being used. Other than the France game, the french fans were all rooting for Iceland just because of their fans.

Re: SF: France Vs Germany
Congrats sports, congrats France. I thought we were the better team tonight overall, but it wasn't meant to be and the crucial scenes went to France.
Anyway they're worthy finalists and should win this prety clearly.
I'm going to blame the fact we couldn't win this tournament in equal parts on bad luck and on Müller's shocking performances.

Sure but they had enough chances they could've easily tied it up.
I agree though they deserved to lose, I'm just saying the amount of chances they had late in the game they will be very regretful they didn't manage to get back into it.

Feeling bad for Ozil and Kroos. Great performance from truly great players. At least now I won't have to hear Buyern fanboys wanking over their players. Bunch of overrated chokers.

It's a shame Gotze retired from the sport after the final in 2014. He would've been great in a game like this one

Two mistakes decided the game. Ofcourse France parked bus and countered but Germany shouldn't have made those unforced errors anyway. France are really physical though.

Sure - I just find it fun that Iceland's celebrations will probably make it into the common repertoire of several fan groups now
