Re: The Three Lions
Is Neville still an assistant to Hodgson ? After seeing his Valencis stint, it will be a disaster for Roy to still have him

Re: The Three Lions
so kane and vardy been playing well and scoring goals for England in the last few games. then that fool brings back rooney. kane and vardy touch the ball 5 times between them in the first half and rooney has a 60% pass rate. and I bet that fool drops kane or vardy because its not working with rooney. I don't think people understand just how much I hate the England manager.

also after 2 years of preparation and a 100% record in the qualifiers 1 games before the start of the euros the fool is still trying to shift the team around just so he can make room for rooney. I'm not a football hooligan typ of person but I don't think I could be in the same room with the manager without insulting him.

Re: The Three Lions
I'm not even blaming Rooney individually. It's clear he's declined a lot recently and isn't a top player anymore - injuries are catching up to him and he doesn't look as motivated. But the thought of leaving him out so we can have a more cohesive team still feels like blasphemy to some people.
Hodgson has done very well to freshen up the England team with young players and instil some sort of team spirit, but sadly doesn't have the balls to make the big decision on Rooney.

the best way to look at it is this. is rooney the best striker we have. is rooney the best no10 we have. is rooney the best centre mf player we have. I think no on all 3.Jay29 wrote:I'm not even blaming Rooney individually. Re: The Three Lions
I think the call should be made between rooney and henderson/milner in midfield. He wont be able to replace Henderson who is a natural midfielder who pretty much does everything better than him in mf but what about Milner. Rooney v Milner in the no.8 role. who is better.

Re: The Three Lions
Neither. Dier-Henderson-Wilshere-Alli should be the midfield if we're playing a diamond. Dier-Wilshere-Alli if it's 4-3-3.
I might get accused of bias about Wilshere but I can't stress enough how important it is to have a midfielder who can actually pass the ball in midfield.

English hooligans clashing with Marseille residents... this is a very very bad idea. You could easily find English people floating in the bay if it doesn't stop. Marseille tough guy don't mess around.
Hope these English fans understand what they're dealing with.

Re: The Three Lions
I'm visiting the area... English fans walking down the street chanting "Isis, where are you?". Pissed the locals off who are mostly of North African origin. So they went after these English fans.
From experience (WC 98 and 06)... English fans are horrible and always start trouble. The worst example i was personally witness to was a Sweden v England WC qualifier in Stockholm. First off, English fans in the subway started harassing this poor African kid (calling him the N word and worse) until they actually started beating the kid up. At that point, we all jumped in and literally kicked the living crap out of these English fans lol. 5 idiots and we were about 20 who jumped them. Blood everywhere. Hope they learned a lesson. At the game, they had to separate the English fans and put them on the upper concourse... and they pissed on the lower concourse where the other fans were. Police beat the crap out of them this time.
Truly disgraceful.

Re: The Three Lions
Turns out that the English fans were no bother until a few French idiots turned up and started on them. They also spread flyers around warning English fans they are in a dangerous place. But yeah let's all blame it on the English. Funny thing is though when England play at home and out number people 15 to 1 there is never any trouble. When England are away and are out numbered 15 to 1 there is bother. Don't make sense to me.

For the locals, we will be staying in North London, what are some good pubs to catch the England match in?

Re: The Three Lions
I wouldn't say they were "no bother". A group of idiots were chanting xenophobic chants and singing about ISIS - this is incredibly stupid in any area, even more so when there are groups who don't need much excuse to get into a fight.
England fans do tend to get into a lot of trouble when they travel during internationals and Champions League matches. There's always a group who don't heed advice given to them and don't behave sensibly and frankly it's embarrassing for the whole nation. It's even worse when these people have spent most of the day in pubs getting drunk.
Most of them don't even have tickets for the games. This account in the Guardian suggest the initial conflict was over tickets:

You could try The Tollington. It's an Arsenal pub, but heard it's good:

BT recommended a few, too, though don't know how many are actually in London.

Re: The Three Lions
if you read the report it says one Frenchman and one Englishman had a fight. And it says the England fans were drinking at a English pub without any bother until a gang of locals turned up and started on them. I agree England have some idiots that let the country down. But let's not act like only England have these idiots. They had flyers made up waiting for the England fans to show up. What's that all about if it ain't to start trouble.Jay29 wrote:I wouldn't say they were "no bother". Re: The Three Lions
The 5 decided to harass and punch an African kid that was no more than 13 on the subway just because he was black... if it were 1000 to 5, they still deserve to get their arses kicked.
And it wasn't 1v1 in Marseille. It was a group of English fans. 2 of them got arrested for chanting racial slurs on the streets.
English fans have stopped making trouble in the UK because it's very hard to get away with it... much easier when it's abroad. This trend started in the 90s when the UK authorities cracked down domestically.
I'm hoping that they get their arse kicked away from the UK enough so they stop there too.
Of course there are idiots from every country. A lot of punks follow the German and Eastern European teams too. Heck, OM has a lot of punks. They all need to get cracked down on.

A fan's account of the madness taking place in Marseille tonight:
https://twitter.com/kenearlys
Anyway, Rooney is mad if he thinks he's a better player now than he used to be.
