Re: Lionel Mesxit: 'The national team is over for me'
I'm not saying this Argentina has been memorable it hasn't, i'm saying the idea history remembers winners and not the losers is absolute nonsense.
As seen by the fact nobody remembers Madrid's 13 CLs other than the Zidane one.

Remind me again, how many have Newcastle won?

History doesn't remember >99% of the winners but does it remember any losers at all?

Brazil 82 is far more memorable than the team that won the tournament, i could go on and on really.
It's complete nonsense.

Re: Lionel Mesxit: 'The national team is over for me'
That's not really what "history remembering" is about though, is it?
You can remember them fondly just like the other people who watched them. That's hardly history remembering, it's just people remembering memorable moments of their lives.
Apart from the very, very few football history hipsters no one actually watches old teams and thus memory of these teams fades. People who watched the teams die off and with them the memory of these teams. History remembers the results if it remembers anything at all.

He really quit again but for "4 months". Sigh.

He made the right decision. After the shitshow the AFA made him go through, I'm surprised he's taking a temporary retirement instead of a permanent one.
