Suarez is miles better than R9 ever was at Madrid so I don't get why you feel like your jimmies are rustled because someone is making this comparison.

I pick prime Suarez over any version of R9. He is the best and most complete striker since MVB.

No CR7 isn't better than Messi. Who said he was? And yes Benzema should be sold, but not until we find a better or at least an equally good CF with superior work rate.

And I wouldn't replace Kroos with Pogba.

Don't forget that Suarez is the best CF in a world where there are no great CFs anymore. Comparing him to R9 is simply laughable, and you would have to be clinically biased and borderline delusional to do so.

Like I said before on GL, it's like comparing an entry-level software engineer to a Redhat certified Architect.

Miles better than R9 ever was at Madrid ? Well, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who is going to disagree with you since R9 in his first 2 season 02-04 was a beast for us. it was following 2 seasons when he declined badly. Between 2002 and 2004 he was still the best 9 in the world.

Like I said, prime Suarez is better than prime R9.

First lets talk about technical aspects. Suarez has a better first touch and can do more with his first touch to advance the play. Suarez is a better passer than R9. Dribbling goes to R9. Suarez has a better shot I believe and definitely a better volleyer of the ball. Better header of the ball as well. Although not exactly a technical attribute, R9 is faster and has better acceleration.

Coming to the tactical, Suarez has far better movement(both to free himself and to create space for his team). He is far better tactically and has more game intelligence than the Brazilian. He is better at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. Overall just far more complete and versatile than R9 and has proven that he can be outstanding in any system or role.

And now the intangibles. Suarez is among those rare rare players who can elevate the level of his teammates and make them play well above their true level. He proved that at Liverpool when he took a midtable side to the brink of a title. He inspired that team and made them punch well above their weight, making average players look class. It was a Maradona esque achievement. Now that he has left, Liverpool have once become a mid table side.
Suarez has proved the same with Uruguay. They look a champion side with him and chumps without him. This is borne out by actual results.
He is also super competitive and has a chmapions mentality, another edge he has over R9.

Lets talk about results. R9 for all his supposed greatness never helped his teams win all that much. The guy played form stacked teams throughout his career and has just 1 league title( I think). That is a pathetic return for a supposed GOAT player. Guy was a NIKE marketing phenomenon. Suarez, by contrast nearly took an average midtable club(which had no business competing for the title), to the brink of title glory. Easily more impressive than anything R9 has ever done. The moment he was transferred to a top team, he delivered with a triple and a double. Reinvogarating life into a great team which seemed on the downturn and raising the level of the team. He has been the MVP for us over the past 2 seasons and has brought the best out of Messi and Neymar. It is easy to make judgements in hindsight. Remember that almost everyone predicted that MSN wouldnt work and that it would flop. Suarez has been the single biggest reason why MSN has worked. He has been the glue holding the unit together on a tactical level. His intelligence, tactical play and sacrifice makes it work to the point that it is now called the best forward line of all time.

Ultimately, a player should be judged by how much he brings tot he team and how much he can help his team. IMO, Suarez brings more to the table than prime R9 and that is why I choose Suarez. He has been the best player in the world over the past 3 seasons. He doesnt have FIFA championing him like they do for Messi and CR7. But he has been the best player in the world over the past 3 seasons.

Forgot to mention scoring. Suarez has two golden shoes in an era competing against Messi and CR7. And he has one of those playing for Liverpool which makes it an even greater accomplishment.
R9 has just one golden shoe. Even at scoring, Suarez is objectively the better scorer.

So still there is a hope for the thread.
But i disagree individually suarez at his best being better R9 at his best. His speed and dribbling was so great that it covered all his weakness.
After he declined his "I own the pitch" character makes him worse player than Suarez. But its understandable, with so much greatness, skill and fame you are not going to run, move and press. Especially at that time it was quite normal for a superstar player to walk. And above all he was selfish. Suarez being the most unselfish player ever makes him best attack partner ever. This is the main reason he makes his teams better.
Things i mentioned makes Suarez better player than declined R9. its not like Suarez always has amazing first touch. He is known for his bad first touches, and amazing first touches.I still dont know if he is good or bad at it.

All i talked about was who is better individual. But one thing can be argued that being a great team player sometimes is more important than being a great individual player. Maybe in this criteria Suarez has more value and maybe this thread has a potential. Suarez works his ass off for his team and he is better team player than all forms of R9
