This Euro is poor and boring
It is. I thought it was ok after the first couple days, now it's clear it's not good. Annoying.

I told you this months ago lol and then again when the tournament started
You'd have to be blind to not see the lack of quality on display.

Agreed. Brazil will still beat all these teams.
Re: This Euro is poor and boring
In 2014 they would have ( except Germany anyway) which is my point, i haven't got time to keep up with in between tournament results and form lol.
Besides that doesn't negate the point about the lack of quality in the tournament.

I'd rather watch this underwhelming quality but competitive football than seeing teams getting smashed 7-0 like pussies in knockout games and pretend like its some super duper quality of football on display.

The same Chile who utterly dominated Spain the last time they faced and won last years Copa America?
Right lol.

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
The expanded format obviously played it's part. Lot of teams which shouldn't be playing made it under new format. Watering down of the competition will only make it another copa like tournament.

I like the hype around the Euro so i watch it. I also like the colorful and vibrant atmosphere in almost every game. Things like these draw me into watching these games.
As for the football alone, i agree its been underwhelming but its still been competitive if you ask me.
Quality will improve in the knockouts.

They wouldnt beat this Spain or at least i cant see the story repeat like 2 yrs ago. Its not the same Spain from 2 yrs ago. Xavi has retired, Iniesta has taken the role of the main playmaker in midfield and their offense has improved.
Seems like your South American base is expanding by each passing day.

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
Expanding to 24 teams was an idiotic decision as everyone here with brains said when it was first announced. Increasing the number of teams in a tournament when quality is the lowest its been for years
Hopefully it improves in the KO stages but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
Yes they would.
Unlike you i'm not delusioned by thinking this Spain is magically better because they beat Turkey lol.
Anyway i'm dealing in facts, they beat them easily last time they are the current South American champions and nobody would argue that at that time most of South America was stronger than it is today a year ago.
On the other hand there's no evidence to suggest Spain are better, they have done nothing or beaten anybody to make an argument in their favour other than a load of baseless assumptions.

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
I don't think it's been boring at all. The quality isn't that high in some games but we've seen a lot of late goals and drama and the underdog teams have performed well and got good results.
What doesn't really help is that with four of the best third placed teams going through the stakes in the group stage are far lower than they used to be. Winning once could be enough to get through. So teams aren't as encouraged to really try and win games when three draws could actually lead to progression. Goal difference is less of a factor as well.

If there's one baseless assumption it is that 'Chile beat Spain 2 yrs ago thus they are stronger and would beat them again' Like as if Spain's improvement dont count at all.
I'm as much delusioned about Spain after seeing them smash Turkey as you are about Chile after seeing them smash Mehico

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
Chile smashing Mexico has absolutely nothing to do with it lol.
The fact they are current holders of the Copa America and smashed Spain last time they faced is a lot more of the reason why.
Unlike you i don't think Spain have magically got better because they beat an awful Turkey side and outside of that have proven nothing to suggest they are.
On the other hand Chile have, it's baseless because Chile have results and performances to back it up. Spain don't other than this " improvement ".
They struggled to and luckily beat the Czech *bleep* Republic and now we are acting like they are strong team because they beat a poor Turkey team with nothing else to base it on.

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
Dying when anybody watches Euros and then talks about atmosphere
The atmosphere for a lot of the euros has been great. The atmosphere for this Copa America has been just as good, easily (and without the hooliganism). Anybody mentioning atmosphere like the Euros has anything over the Copa America has clearly never watched a game of CA or is just being ignorant. gtfo
Euros football is "competitive", cool, and you clearly didn't watch Mexico-Uruguay, Brazil-Peru, USA vs Paraguay, USA vs Ecuador, Bolivia vs Chile etc etc etc. Coming from someone who has been watching the euros and copa america (tbf more euros than copa), the copa has been better. I'm regretting not watching as much Copa as Euros because the euros have been poor while CA has been great, more competitive, with as good of an atmosphere, and better football.
Excuse me while I watch these GOAT semis and the arrogant europeans claim that a hungary-albania 0-0 match is the greatest thing they've seen since prime Rooney

Re: This Euro is poor and boring
The quality overall seems, to me, higher than it was at the WC. It's just that all the players of all teams look tired. But international tournaments just happen during the holidays, so that's to be expected, sadly. I'd say seasons should be shorter, but I already don't know what to do during the summer break when it's as short as it currently is...

You should have been watching Copa before. 100% this is the worst Copa America in terms of atmosphere in south america. Its in north america, its only 1 year after Chile's Copa, it doesn't actually make you a champion of the continent as Chile will be at the confed cup regardless.
The only things that are better here is the huge stadiums with really high attendance and the fact that more teams add some refreshing match ups. South american teams play each other A LOT already so its cool to have other in there who are not just invited to the competition and fail.
The games have been great and it really picked up as a tournament after very low initial expectations for the centenario.

Wonderful tournament, great football. Albania would beat most of the teams in the fake Copa Centenaria, organized by people that are now in jail.
