Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Tmz is saying cops knew about it and the case stalled when Sean Kingston stopped cooperating. Meek probably told on his people/him.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
You'd actually be surprised how big his fanbase is odly enough.
He's the only one who can sell close to Drake, Kendrick & Cole.
But yeah his IG thotness is pathetic. Didn't he learn from his Twitter career when Drake dropped back to back

I'm asking about old school because i despise the actual state of the rap game (or at least the artists who are the most famous in this era).
Welcome to my world.
The last decade(at least) of rap hurts my ears.
But today it's pathetic, insult to actual rap.
I can proudly state that all I know of Drake or Meek Mill etc. are their names, not even a single lyric

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Yeah its easy to cherry pick lyrics from mainstream songs and lament on the state of today's rap and the world in general.
Except songs with these type of lyrics always existed and was always popular, even in the 90s (which is still my favorite era of rap).
F the likes of Meek Mill, there are some really good rappers today whose work would stand out on any era. State of rap is still good.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
Im from Toronto. Drake has done so much to promote my city. I am impartial to his music. Some songs are alright, and others not so much lol. Thing is, Toronto has always had its own unique culture that just needed exposure to listeners down south. Its insane to see our slangs and lingo being well received by mainstream America these days
----
PS: Question to the rest of you (in light of the the rap beef thats going on right)... Does a rapper have to win a rap beef or come back just as strong after being "eithered" for him or her to have a legend status?
Listening to this right now:
Pharoahe Monch ... such an underrated rapper.

Re: The Offical Rap Thread Part 3
No need to "win" a rap beef in order to remain a legend. These are always picking on each other anyway. But if someones gets madly dissed, without having a name in the game, this might be the end of his career.
Look at Meek Mill... will he ever have credibility in the rap game anymore ? He's laughing stock now.
On the other side... Ice Cube was rapping since the 80's, had feuds with NWA and Cypress Hill. But he built a name for himself and earned respect from the hip hop community.
And then one day, he got absolutely TRASHED by Common on a record (i can't remember the title of the song). Still, his career was not in danger cause he was already famous and had street cred.
PS: i remember watching Drake in Degrassi lol... who would have known that he'll end up as one the most famous artist
