Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Griezmann is used to leading the attack as he did for years at Atleti and France. He likes to have the freedom to roam. At Barshit, he was commoditized until Suarez got injured. He wasn't even getting a lot of chances. Now, he's getting chances but just needs to pick up confidence.
As long as Grizzy is involved like he has been the past 2 weeks, he will find form. He was doomed before that.

Only someone who doesn't watch Barcelona would think Griezmann has improved since Suárez has left.
Griezmann and Barça are chalk and cheese. Period.

You're telling me that Grizzy wasn't the leader of the attack for both France and Atleti for many years? Put up elite numbers too. Leading the line meaning the attacks were centered around him and he delivered for multiple years at the highest of levels.
Stop what? You stop.

it's one thing to miss chances as opposed to not getting many chances at all. He'll start making those misses if it continues.
What I've noticed is that Barca's defense is still shit... but the attack looks more organized. More movement. With Valverde, it mostly just chucked the ball to the forwards and let them figure it out Now, there are some off the ball movements. It's getting better from that standpoint.
I think it's too late for this season, however... it's like running training camp in February.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
You are describing Griezmann as being the leader of the attack. Leading the line is an actual physical thing that Giroud does for frnace and at Atletico, Diego Costa and then Morata were doing.
Griezmann can't lead the line, he is not build for it

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Gotcha and agreed. I misused terminology. He can't lead the line... it's been tried and failed. He is used to leading an attack, however.
My apologies.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Griezou indeed cannot lead the line and that is fine for that is not in his game to.
Coaching him is actually complex and that has been the case since his La Real days. As versatile as he is he has shown a specific outlet of channels that works best for him, worked around his weaknesses, as using him for what he is not has him close to anonymous. But if used correct he is a constant presence in the game.
Quite simply, he was not needed in Barça.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Griezmann will always be best as a support striker or a free role roaming left and right, etc., surely hes too good to not be at Barca? I dont see any chance at all we would wanna let him go. Hes not gonna replace Suarez Suarez when his time is up and we will sign another striker to be the lead up front with Griezmann supporting.

Exactly! and Grizzy is nowhere near as good as Messi obviously. So i don't understand why a) Barca bought him, b) Grizzy wanted to go to Barca and c) people are surprised that he's having a hard time.
He can actually play wide fine... but to the right, not the left!

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
It's Barca who failed to get him fit and protect him from re-injuring himself by repeatedly rushing him back before

What the actual fuck
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has no intention of forcing Ousmane Dembele to rush back from injury to play against Manchester United, in order to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
The Frenchman was rushed back into the team in the second leg against Lyon and suffered an injury setback which has sidelined him since.
"It's not the same situation as against Lyon, as then we forced him back in the second leg and he got injured, while this is a first leg," the coach said at a press conference prior Wednesday's game.
"I'm not going to take a risk, in order to avoid this happening again."

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
What is the point of having a puny player whom you cannot risk at all with injuries? Almost every athlete plays with some minor injury during a season and these don't pose a major risk. With Dembélé however, every time there is a little niggle with him he ends up being out for 4 months.
Also, he is not very good, so even a fit Dembélé isn't going to make a difference in the disaster season Barça are about to have.
Hopefully Depay joins you though, at least you will have someone to crack everyone up in the changing room with his awful MCing.

I'm really beginning to believe the drug ring in Bayern. Surely you injected something to him every day? Or how otherwise did you keep this fraud fit? Evidence just piles up.Hapless_Hans wrote:It's Barca who failed to get him fit and protect him from re-injuring himself by repeatedly rushing him back before

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Objectively speaking we haven't had that many injuries in the past years, especially the long term kind. Apart from Umtiti and Dembele, I really can't recall any serious ones.

So if Real Madrid buys refs and gets away it, according to this statement, this should apply to everyone else in La Liga?

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Hes actually improved a lot lately, and finally a decent amount of time undisturbed by injuries thats allowed him that. Hes being asked to play no.9 and his speed means he gets himself into those chances, but definitely shouldnt be there, and should go back to winger, but we've got Braithwaite so Koeman had to try something I guess
Am quite happy atm with him considering his history, and hes showed recently a real hunger, which I hope will continue, if he keeps on improving and fine tuning his game, he can only get better.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Its crazy to me how he is a better finisher outside the box than inside it.
Those misses hurt.
But damage was done in the 1st leg and at least he has a role in the team. He needs to work on his finishing inside the box though.
I am not nearly as upset at him as other players and the entire team's pathetic 1st leg.
