Unfortunately I don't think the casual audience ever bought into his worked shoot smarky promos. I guess they just weren't interested in hearing about the complex inner workings of why he's been held down. However they still recognised the fact that he was a great talent and connected with him because they understood the gist of his maverick tirades, which is why even as a heel he got a mixed reaction a lot of the times.

In terms of Punk vs HHH, honestly it has to be a burial. Makes absolutely 0 sense how he goes over Punk during his prime push.

Punk outselling Cena in merchandise suggests he was much appreciated by the casual audience.

Like I said before, they don't care who's over and who's not. Whoever Vince/HHH want as the top guys, will be the top guys.

In general yeh, he was appreciated. But more specifically I just don't feel they were all that interested in the detailed complex smarky promos.

The overall gist of his promos was fairly straightforward. He was held down because he didnt kiss ass. Rather easy to grasp. Still I kind of agree of agree with you.. The promo that I mentioned is a prime example. One of the best promos of all time. And yet it got a very tepid response.
Punk was probably 15 years too late. He would have been a GOD in the AE.

Consumed most of Punk's stuff, so gutted i couldnt see him during his era, bet people were actually eagerly awaiting RAW every week. MITB 2011 was amazing as well, absolute shame that they botched it up with him, one of the best, a GOAT

Yeah, but if they change push the live event back 2-3 hours, it would be best for business IMO

Watch all of their vids imo. They absolutely rip into smarks. Other than their hate for Bryan/Punk, they speak the truth.
That's one of the only internet pages where you'll find attitude era/classic WWE fans.
All other sites for the most part are indy smarks who want Cesaro vs Zayn 60 min iron man WM main event lol.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
Not sure really, all they do is shit on smarks every vid. From what I can tell they like Batista and Lesnar. Oh and this is what their wiki says:
The Smarkbusters are an youtube comedy-duo who reviews WWE. They currently have well over 2,000 subscribers and is considered one of the fastest rising youtube channels in the youtube wrestling community. They have been known for their extreme vulgar and crude humor while reviewing or ranting in their videos. They have also been known to have different opinions than most in the internet wrestling community, by favoring the bigger wrestler and believes that professional wrestling should be more character-based, rather than based on in-ring performance. They also produce a series called "Bustin' Smarks", which is a show poking fun of other wrestling fans online for having opinions what they feel is outlandish and stupid. They have been also known to get into other conflicts with other YWC youtubers such as Danielson, Polston, Wrestling Jesus, Wrestling Otaku, and more.
How Smarkbusters unique themselves from other youtubers is the fact that in their reviews and rants, they tend to yell a lot and make many crude jokes. Most of their reviews on wrestling is widely is negative as they have stated that the only reason why they still watch WWE is to continue their channel.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 26
There is, but given the choice, I'd go with the attitude era side.
Most of the things that go on nowadays are very smark pro. Stuff like the longer matches, NXT, influx of indy guys in the company etc. It's moving away from the classic WWE days where larger than life characters were are at the top.
