He's just as good as Busquets in his role... they play very different roles so you can't make a direct comparison anyhow. Problem Busquets has is that he gets exposed if the lines aren't as tight as the ones Barca play. The WC for Spain NT illustrated it... they got stretched and Busquets got lost due to lack of athleticism. Pogba's issue is that he's so confident that he takes unnecessary risks in bad areas sometimes leading to costly turnovers.

So the weak point of Busquet is that he is less athletic while weak point of Pogba is that he is confident

It's like going to an interview and when they ask you what your weaknesses are, you say you're too hard working or some bs like that

Sportsczy meant that Pogba gets overconfident/complacent which is a valid weakness. It may not be his greatest weakness but I did notice this trait on him. It is one of his weaknesses.

No need to go quite so far yet IMO.

But he's up there. Incredibly exciting player.

He might be, but there's also a lack of world-class CMs right now. I'm not seeing anywhere the next generation of Xavis, Pirlos, Gerrards, Vieiras or Yayas.

I think he is but it can be argued for other top performers too. If I were to make a midfield for the best 11 he'd be in there.

This season he really took the next step. He is excelling at every aspect of playing in midfield. The last 3 seasons he was an added quality to a great midfield, now he made it his own. Makes watching games really fun lately, every match is like a highlight reel.

Other top midfielders right now are probably Busquets, Marchisio, Modric, Verratti, Gundogan, Thiago and Vidal(not sure if his form dropped too much at Bayern), Iniesta has the most quality but he is getting old. Pogba fits right in.

IMO the era of the Pogba's being the world's best is over - The world has changed & so has the game. Now even DM's have to skilled, technically good, great passers with vision.

You need CM's of the mold of Gundogan, Modric, Thiago - not Schweni, Pogba, Viera types anymore. Pogba is technically good but touch, technique wise, ability to dominate possession & hold the mid-field, have the silkyness - On those respect he is not an elite talent, he is just good in those respects.

Ofcourse stamina, grit, energy, physicality, etc - He is elite & good technically. But the era of those CM's are over - The era of Yaya is over.

Pogba IMO is never gonna be the world's best CM in today's era.

You need every kind of CM.

If anything you have it backwards, the game is evolving towards less specialists. Pogba is far more complete than Modric or Thiago. The ability to dominate possesion and hold the midfield likely won't be what it was for a loooong time, given that Pirlo and Xavi retired. They were the last great midfielders of their kind.

Pogba's touch and technique are unreal, check out his play this season. He reminds of a more mobile, midfield version of Ibrahimovic.
