A markedly more challenging fixture than our two previous draws.

Still beatable with a less than optimal side.

Ruing the penalty miss, but overall a draw at Anfield is a good result (especially considering we were far from at the races), and tactically speaking is really all we needed. We maintain our double-digit gap over Liverpool, and with Arsenal losing at home to Warford (lol), we actually finish the matchweek extending our lead at the top

Re: The Conte Era - Chelsea 17/18
Happy with the result overall.
15 games to go and 9 points clear. Spurs and Arsenal can get to a max of 92 points, so we need 36 points for the title, or 12 wins.
I'm going to do a count down after every game for how many points needed before we're safe.
Points to safety after Liverpool (game 23): 36.

More than happy with the draw tbh and other results went for us.
I'd like to see Manchester teams lose now

I don't care what the two Manchester teams do, they're out of the title race.

I think Ade meant purely from an entertainment point of view, in which event I wholly concur

I'd argue both of them winning would add more entertainment.
It would mean Spurs and Arsenal on 47, Liverpool and City on 46, and Utd on 44. 3 points separating 5 spots? Two of whom have to miss out on CL. That's more entertaining imo.

Conceivably, but in the event we do have some unforeseen and monumental collapse, we surely want as much distance between ourselves and any & every one remotely capable of challenging us, no? City more than United I'd say, but even still.

So with Ivanovic out, we've finalised our squad for the remainder of the season.
It's interesting to note how young our subs and reserves are:
Starting XI:
Sub XI:
Plus we have Eduardo (34) Loftus-Cheek (21) and Solanke (19).
So thats an average age of 27.2 for the starting XI while the subs average age is 24.6, with only Begovic, Terry, Fabregas and Willian over the age of 23.
I can see that changing in the summer, but considering Fabregas, Willian, and Batshuayi are our main subs, we might just get away with the large amount of youth players (9 U-23's in our 25 man squad!).

Re: The Conte Era - Chelsea 17/18
A draw was in line with our expectations and the overall flow of the game, but you still gotta feel like we missed a huge opportunity with that penalty miss.
Now the Arsenal game is a must win. We should be able to be up for the task, they have been very unispiring as for lately. Need to reclaim that Pride of London appellative that has been slipping from our hands after the 3-0 and 2-0 defeats at the Emirates and White Hart Lane.

Brilliant but unsurprising win against this lot that all but shoulders another challenger out of the race for good and puts another finger on the trophy for us.

Hazard oh my lord Goal of the season right there
Solid performance from everyone and crucial win. Alonso has been a menace lately, completely disrupting enemy teams for 90 minutes and he's knacking some goals as well . He's my MOTM.

Great games from Hazard, Alonso, Pedro, Azpilicueta and Kante. They all put in a massive shift.
Fantastic win and if Liverpool do us a favour against Spurs next week, we'll be double digits clear of everyone.

I realise my calculation was off,
anyway, we're down to 34 points to safety.

A draw is ok, a win would have been better but we're 10 points clear.
If Man City win, we're 8 points clear and need to get 32 points to get the title, if they don't win, we need 30 points to get the title.

Minor changes for the Wolves game, hopefully.
I'd like to see:
The only other change that could be possible is Pedro dropping to a WB spot and perhaps Musonda or Kenedy coming in.

Re: The Conte Era - Chelsea 17/18
As challenging a game as most of us thought it would be when the draw was made, but delighted to weather the first-half insurgency by them (not to mention our own horrible showing in that 45) and advance to the next round with a much better second half performance. Thought it would be a fairly dull game but it ended up being very gratifying indeed putting these pansy upstart-wannabe players, smalltime fans cheering dispossessions and throw-ins like goals, and utter bellend Sarah Palin spectacle-sporting cockwomble of a manager in their place.

Happy with the win and the rest for Cahill, Luiz, Courtois, Alonso and Matic.
Hopefully it helps for Swansea.
I have managed to grabbed tickets to the last game of the season against Sunderland, so I'll be there to see us lift the trophy

Re: The Conte Era - Chelsea 17/18
Strange to feel so fortunate in victory, in a game we dominated so utterly. If we'd put away even one more of the million chances we created in the first half, all that panic in the second is avoided, but credit to our boys for overcoming an insurgent side who've ben the only team to have picked up more points this calender year than we have. Could have been a banana skin but in the end it was a comfortable victory and an important 3 points.

I know it's cliche, but those are the games which champions win.
Happy with the result, and man were the goals we scored fantastic goals!
