Re: Roberto Martinez Sack Watch
It's a fantasy that we will win the league. He will be the first Barca manager in ages that will be sacked midseason. Valverde is a very good La Liga manager, has also proven it with Bilbao, won them the first title in more than 30 years (against MSN Barca), kept them at the top and they've regressed since he left them. Losing CL away games is Barca DNA rather than Valverde's fault. Usually it's the other way around, we first lose away then turn it around home. Unlucky that the return legs against Roma and Liverpool were away.
Martinez on the other hand reached what in his career? Record negative goal difference with Wigan + got them relegated + shocking results like 1-9 and 0-8, sacked at Everton after not even 3 seasons (only 6 points above relegation at some point, lost 2-5 to Dynamo Kiev in Europe) where Moyes was balling for more than 10 years. Worse than Tata Martino.
Plastic fanbase will deserve every bit of it though.

Roberto Martinez won the FA Cup with Wigan lol, that‘s more than Valverde did before he joined Barcelona.

What an idiotic statement. Cup games have their own rules and the FA Cup is not even 2-legged unless there is a draw plus many teams in England don't take the competition seriously. His team got relegated 3 days later.
Meanwhile Valverde got some Basque jabronis into top 4 over the course of a season and beat treble winning Barca 5-1 over 2 legs for the Super Cup.

Compare the team Wigan had with Athletico‘s and you‘ll see it‘s not that ridiculous. Martinez‘s success was much more impressive.
Not to mention sending Belgium to a World Cup semi final

Not impressive at all when their route to the final is:
Bournemouth -> Macclesfield Town -> Huddersfield Town -> Millwall.
Total nonsense comparison.

I doubt he's worse than Valverde. It seems rather impossible. Valverde is Tata Martino level.
Bob Martinez seems more like Luis Enrique level which is already one step above Valverde/Martino.
I liked what he did with Belgium.

I don't know how Barca fans make fun / are outraged about the Martinez rumours when looking at their last few managers; bunch of jabronis who have had no better CVs before their Barca gig than Martinez has.

But why even flirt with the idea of Roberto Martinez when Allegri is available? So many better managers just waiting for a job- Machin, Conte, Blanc, even the likes of Bilic, Puel, and Mourinho are better than Martinez. And that is just a list of available managers, plenty of managers currently in jobs that would jump at the opportunity to manage Messi and co.
Would be incredibly hilarious, I think, if they do go with Martinez with all that is around.

Conte, Allegri, Blanc do not fit Barca's "philosophy"
Martinez for all his faults plays attacking football. Not Cruyffian which is why I put philosophy in quotation marks. Valverde himself is pretty far from Cruyffian.
Honestly the board is just waiting for Xavi to get his badges and experience. Until then expect Martinez, Erik Ten Hag or a second Luis Enrique stint.

MArtinez alone, at least a feel a little bit of hope, but once I read Henry would be together, than PLSSSSS no, dont hire them, Henry was a nightmare at Monaco.

I have been asking myself the same thing. Considering the quality of the managers available, I would jump at the chance of signing Allegri if I were Barça, and I wouldn't even entertain the thought of shortlisting Martinez, let alone signing him.

With the help of Dr. Google...
Athletic Bilbao squad vs Barcelona when they won 4-0 in the Super Cup:
Irazioz, Oscar de Marcos, Laporte, San Jose, Balenziaga, Benat, Eraso, Merino, Arduiz, Susaeta, Etxeita
Wigan squad vs City in the FA Cup final:
Robles, Boyce, Scharner, Alcarez, Espinoza, McCarthy, McArthur, Mcmanaman, Gomes, Kone, Maloney
I don't know Urban, really not seeing much of a difference to either squad in terms of names, quality or whatever. Think the sole difference being Athletic has their Basque only policy and Wigan is a regular football club thus the former would have a much tougher time in getting talent.
Long story short: both achievements are great but Valverde is way better than Martinez as a manager. Athletic never was relegated under his tenure, can't say the same for Martinez's tenure at Wigan.
