Best striker in modern football history. Would easily take ahead of R9.

Yeh I think it says more about the league as a whole. When you're playing in a less competitive league and your team is star studded, it's easier to stat pad.

Most competitive league in modern football history. When did La Liga ever have 3 teams that could be considered top 5 in the world and below that teams like Sevilla walking consecutive ELs, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Villarreal etc. etc. playing proper football.

Scores 8 against scrubs but can't score against Real, unreal levels of useless stat padding.
If this was Ronaldo we'd never hear the end of it.
He did the same in England too, despite scoring about 8 goals less Sturridge was directly responsible for more points.

Well, he did score against us last season if that makes it better (it doesn't). Still, I am shocked no one is being negative about it.

Eibar, Sporting, Levante, Getafe, Granada, Rayo, Betis, Las Palmas etc.
Most of the time when you think of like 75% of the teams vs RM/Barca, it's usually a 5-0 prediction.

So? Football has always been like that. No league ever had 20 elite teams. Current La Liga is as good as it gets. We'd never hear the end of it if the Premier League had 3 top 5 teams and bunch of very good teams like Sevilla, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal etc. who are all Tottenham level.

I'm not trying to compare the leagues. The competitiveness of a league is just one of many factors that determines the overall quality of it.
Just saying when you have 2 star studded powerhouses like RM/Barca, going up against a lot of weak opposition, it's easier for players to stat pad.

Yes, obviously it's easier to score more when playing for super teams. Even though someone should tell Neymar that who is at roughly half of Suarez' current tally.

Why are purposely ignoring that he scored TWO goals at the Bernabeu in December this season when they destroyed Madrid 4-0.
Is that not enough? Are you forgetting his *bleep* WINNER against Atleti in January?
Or how about his goal against Villarreal, the 4th best team in La Liga.
Or what about his *bleep* hattrick against Bilbao, the 5th best team in La Liga, and ALSO THE WINNER in the very first match against Bilbao as well.
Or what about the fact that he was the only one who showed up against *bleep* Atletico in the CL winning them the first leg with a brace. And also killed the tie against Arsenal in Round of 16 with that scissor kick.
Keep rewriting history.

Re: How many players have scored 50 goals in one season in all competitions in recent memory?
R9 was a marketing machine like Neymar, he was forced to play a WC final through injury because Nike owned him. That's why you all rate him so highly. The marketing machinery surrounding him was insane. And once Perez made him a "Galactico", the rest was history. R9 was the very first Justin Bieber of football.
I was like 12 years old, didn't follow football at all except international tournaments yet still desperately wanted a Ronaldo jersey. Why? Because Nike indoctrinated me back then when I was a kid. But once I grew up I saw the cold truth. If you objectively look at R9's career, it was actually nothing special. He was evidently a lazy guy who didn't train well (watch his documentary on YouTube, Zagallo explains this very well), got fat by the time he was 28 and failed to lead any of his club sides to any major trophy. His WC 2002 was one of the most overrated of all time. Tap-ins against terrible opposition after terrible opposition. Hardly better than what Klose did for Germany all those years, except Klose didn't play alongside Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Kaka etc. There is a reason why Brazilians didn't even rate that team before the tournament and Pelé predicted they would go out in the group stages. A whole lot of terrible opponents (Turkey and South Korea in the semi-finals of the World Cup
) and a lot of luck (Ronaldinho's intended cross ending up in the net, Kahn who was the MVP of the tournament dropping the ball, Rivaldo's playacting cheating Turkey out of the tournament) led to Brazil doing a Greece even before Greece did a Greece.
So would I take a lazy, fat, marketing-hyped Brazilian who would be a complete liability in the modern game or would I take the one and only champion of the people? Very easy choice. I don't expect you to agree with me. The majority of mankind are sheep, there are only a few who are enlightened.

Yeah you said everything with " I didn't follow football" , your memories begin with a Ronaldo already declined after awful injuries that would have destroyed totlally every player (me , as Inter fan , followed it directly) , and here there is his greatness. anyone'd have finished to play, he continued to be a difference maker..despite he lost much of his powerness tbh. he was GOAT but he never was back to be that sort of player. prime ronaldo was as the best player ever, R9 was just the best player in the world . Rely on who saw the prime Ronaldo (96-99) , not even prime messi was comprable with him IMO. Let alone Suarez, and Suarez is easily my favouite player

Re: How many players have scored 50 goals in one season in all competitions in recent memory?
But Suarez is unreal and we didn't discover him for these stats .. Besides in modern football if you play with Barca or Real some numbers are inflated tbh I read la Liga is the best league ever , meh perhaps.. but anyway it's the only league where you can get matches with victories for 8-0 . It is enough boring for a neutral fan.
So it is not matter of poker, and I believe Suarez is the only to not care about it
It's always thought just for his club than individual records ... I believe it's just matter of rivalry Barca- Real and sponsors who will get the Pichici or the Golden Shoe .. Suarez is special for his completeness , capable to mix everything, quality and work rate, when you watch in some matches Luis Enrique to use him as an Inzaghi you think he understand nothing and probably you don't go far from the truth
So it is not matter of poker, and I believe Suarez is the only to not care about it
