How many players have scored 50 goals in one season in all competitions in recent memory?

Hell count even scrubby leagues like Eredivisie and Portuguese league and wherever that scrub Jonathan Soriano is scoring 45 goals a season in.

Recent memory, so I'm thinking 80s or 90s until now.

I know Gerd Muller did a few times before that. Not sure if Van Basten was able to do it. But anything before 80s is pushing it.

He is a monster worthy of Balon D'or.
But in this plastic football can't win it, ffs ended 5TH in treble season after CR and Lewandoski with no real reasons apparently.

Meh, its inflated because of the insane talent centralization we are seeing currently.

Suarez's finishing isnt even better than Benzema's btw, he misses alot of easy chances, even yesterday apart from that tap in he couldve scored 4 goals but missed all.

CR is going to score 20 goals in CL this season despite this being his worst year. Benzema is probably top 5 in CL history in terms of goals.

In this era, scoring is too easy because opposition sucks compared to the super teams.

So nothing impressive about the numbers. Real Madrid and Barcelona can make current Torres score 50 goals, do you have any doubt?

Football is a business now. All about money, commercials and establishing brands. Suarez doesn't fit in there with all his controversies. He has too many character flaws, he can't be sold to the masses like a Barby doll. That's why he is the people's champion.

jardel? larsson must have back in the celtics days, when them and rangers were bullying scotland (i think they still are) i don't know if hugo sanchez got up to 50, romario in south america with flamengo maybe, same too zico, someone could look that up.

i don't think any recent serie a based striker has such numbers,...i don't think even zlatan had 50 when inter were bullying everyone. super team concentration does play a part in it too whether one likes it or not...did mario gomez get to 50? well, i have jardel, larsson, romario, zico, hugo sanchez, not sure about mario gomez and zlatan.

Gomez had 41 in 11/12.

Zlatan's best is also 41 in 13/14 for PSG.

He was better than Neymar in 2015. Messi was obviously #1.

Except he wasn't.

Neymar had more goals, created more chances and was the top scorer in the CL.

Not Suarez fault mind as he was suspended going into it and wasn't really fit till the end of March. Also he was much better than him while Messi was out and everyone agrees with that.

You are educating a Barca fan while not watching most Barca games yourself? Pls. Suarez had the biggest impact when it mattered most. I don't care about "scored more goals" when Suarez scored the individual goal in the title-deciding Clasico, ended 2 CL knockout ties after the first leg by scoring 2 goals away from home (City and PSG) as well as the winner in the final. Only knockout round where Neymar outperformed Suarez was against Bayern but even then only by a slim margin considering that Suarez set his 2 tap ins up in perfect manner. Neymar had a 2 month spell where he outperformed Suarez (even then Suarez was obviously playing at a very high level) from around October to December. Overall Suarez easily had the biggest impact on Barca winning titles after Messi in 2015. Neymar is not consistent. Messi is already outscoring him this season despite missing 2 months with injury, playing below his standards a while after his return from injury and playing further away from goal. Suarez is a lot more consistent which is why he has almost double the amount of goals by now. Neymar is getting carried by his commercial brand. Watch Bellerin put him in his pocket on Tuesday.

Even if we were to agree that Suarez was better than Neymar in the 1st half of 2015, the gap between them was bigger in the 2nd half of 2015.

He should have been in the Ballon D'Or podium over Ronaldo for sure though.
