Are Chelsea back?
Currently 3rd since Hiddink took over and drawing Paris SG in Paris:
http://www.transfermarkt.com/premier-league/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2015&min=18&max=27
Their title and even top 4 hopes for this season are shot to hell, but can we say they are back to playing at the level they should be?

Tbf 2-1 in Paris is about what you would expect out of them playing at their top level, they don't have the better squad

Well done to them for scraping a loss and going out of the competition.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.

Hardly. They still lost to PSG and still are languishing at the bottom half of the EPL table.

They had a 12 game unbeaten streak before tonight... they were a relegation team in EPL before that. First loss under Hiddink.

Re: Are Chelsea back?
In that table they're third on goal difference...they could easily be 7th based on points (it's good to GD pad, it's just that saying they're third paints a somewhat biased picture)
Anyway, at that current rate, they would get 63 points. Last year that lands them in 6th. The year before that that lands them at 8th.
So I guess I would say...no? Just a guess though.

Re: Are Chelsea back?
CSpurs you're reading the table wrong, they have 15 points over the last 9 games placing them better than anyone except for Spurs and Southampton. Unbeaten too.

Re: Are Chelsea back?
No I read the table right, just articulated wrong.
What I'm saying is that they're third with 15 points, but they're level on points with 3-7. Points wise they're third only because of goal difference. Which, as I pointed out, is good, but it biases the table to say that they're third when results wise/points wise they're essentially anywhere between 3 and 7.
My point about their points/game stands though. On current form they're still not getting top 4 (never mind challenging for the title like they should do) any year in recent history, even if you go back to 2011-2012.
You might counter that it's a "different EPL" now. I would respond that they still need to show a lot more to be "back".

let's not bother discussing or weighing facts, let's just pretend they're away forever.

The name of the thread is "Are Chelsea Back?" which I am gonna assume back to being a top team or back to their best and in both cases, hardly.
To me, their genuine good results were against Arsenal and Palace. The Newcastle win was emphatic but one can (and would) argue it is against a hapless team managed by an imbecile. Sunderland should really be an ATM for any team with good talent. Home draws to Watford, Everton, West Brom, Man Utd where they were behind against Watford, Everton and Utd. The FA Cup wins against Sc*nthorpe and MK Dons I really wouldn't put plenty emphasis on.
Have they turned a corner, definitely. Are they back, hardly. I would like to think a Chelsea fan should feel optimistic about next season though and even their return leg against PSG.

Re: Are Chelsea back?
Considering that Palace have been going through their own Pardew nosedive since Christmas I don't think we should count that either.

I wouldn't go as far as calling the team that Pelle put out "Man City". More like "Man Village". Or "Man District".
