Or because there already was an NFL thread. Actually it was the top thread when this one was created.

The NHL seems to only be enjoyable if you are drunk.

We use to have a team in my city, called the thrashers, and game day experiences there were the worst thing ever. A bunch of drunk guys, in john deere hats, swearing at the players and each other. The timeouts were replaced by icing, and at random times it just seemed like people would start fighting for no apparent reason. Even on TV you can't see the puck. Just look like a bunch of people going back and forth on ice dressed like robots. Figure skating is a better Ice spectator sport.

The NFL at the very least provides a decent game day experience. During all the breaks you have games/music/ect on the soundboard. They try really hard to keep you engaged.

Well we're talking about two very different things, game day experience and experience through TV. Not being able to see the puck isn't really an issue if you watch more than...no NHL at all. I've never had issues seeing it after my first couple games of NHL when I had no clue what was going on.

I do agree about the fighting though, hate that aspect of the NHL. Otherwise the NHL provides probably the best entertainment of all the American leagues imo. NFL is just awful to watch on TV and NBA is generally boring to me unless the Bucks are playing or two good teams are playing each other. I know it's a bit of a stereotype but sometimes I'm watching the NBA and it seems the players can't even be bothered.

NBA has too many games for a competitive product nightly

My eyes must terrible from all my work. The few times I've tried to watch on NBC I can't see anything Laughing

I mean, it's a fair criticism, it's something that a lot of people have problems with.

It's that watching hockey for a while, it's not so much that you become better at seeing the puck (I should point out that is not what I was inferring), it's that you learn to know where the puck is and what's going on based on the movement/action of the players. For hockey, you don't really need to know where the puck is at all times, you will know where it is by the way situations present themselves.

It takes a bit of time though. I've watched an alright amount of NHL and I had season tickets for Wisconsin (college) hockey last year, so I've seen a decent amount in person and on screen. It's probably the worst sport for casual fans watching on screen...but I think once you get past that barrier it offers the best entertainment of American sports. This is, of course, subjective.

Though it does have a bit of an issue with the number of games like the NBA, it's just not quite as apparent since the structure of the game is that players are on for a short amount of time and then are pulled, so you don't see people just blatantly slacking from tiredness much.

Anybody who enjoys watching American sports (don't know why you would tbh, NHL aside as said) should check out the Stanley Cup playoffs. I've watched a lot of NFL playoffs, I've watched a little bit of the NBA playoffs (enough to judge). Stanley Cup playoffs are generally of a higher quality imo and are worth checking out. I myself was never invested in hockey--it's a stretch to say I am even now--but one day I flipped on some of the Stanley Cup playoffs because I was bored and was roped in. Followed the rest of that series and tuned in some more, now I generally try to catch the final every year at least, if not more.
