Never heard of him. We'll probably buy him and play him for U21s for 3 years before releasing him to Wigan or something

Arsenal plotting £30m Daniel Sturridge bid
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-plotting-30m-daniel-sturridge-7917668
Sounds like bullshit but willing to do 40m + walcott.
Will email Arsene tonight if you guys are ok with it

So Walcott is worth 1 pound? Think you are overrating the guy, being generous - he's worth 99 cents at best, and that's counting his age and the Brit factor.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Legitimately thought Walcott counted as -£10m.
Genuinely love Sturridge as a player. Top class forward when fit but that's the big question mark we have to consider when talking about someone that injury prone. Doubt Liverpool would sell to us even if there are murmurs of a 'rift' between him and Klopp.

Sturridge just a day or two ago put those rumours to bed.

Some German paper/news site called 90Plus (neunzigplus.de) saying Xhaka to Arsenal is very close.

Xhaka'It is not just up to me what happens,' he told RP Online. 'I can only say that I am enormously happy here and have a contract until 2020.
'So far, there is no offer. To be honest I've not thought about it in recent weeks. If an offer comes, we will sit down together and decide what happens. And if nothing comes, everything fits here at Borussia.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
West Ham's chairman just said on national TV the club has bid £24mil for a player.
The Sun ran a story that West Ham want Walcott and Arsenal are looking for £20mil+ bids.
Sounds like a case of 2+2=5 but Walcott has been linked with West Ham in the past.

West Ham can afford 140kpw and can play Walcott in his preferred position of shadow CF/RM raumdeuter? Good for them. They're going to enjoy at least one season of the ten he'll force them to sign him on for.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I like Theo and wish him well but honestly if the fee is right it could work out well for everyone. Walcott can be one of the big fish at a club that has an opportunity to push on into consistent top 6/7 finishes.
Of course Arsenal run the risk of letting him slip away just as he finally comes good for a full season or more. But the more probable bet is that, even if West Ham consider him a success, he'll be good sometimes, lukewarm sometimes, injured sometimes, etc. In other words, both replaceable (for cheaper) and upgradeable (also arguably for cheaper).
Theo -> West Ham for 20m+
Giroud -> Wolfsburg for 15m+
Solid moves that would be good for Arsenal, good for buying clubs, and good for players too. IMO.

The Olympic Stadium for them is huge. They now have the second most season ticket holders of any english club. I expect them to spend big this summer, they are going to want to fill it. West Ham will be a bigger player going forward in the PL.
I think they might try and sign Walcott, but who knows. Part of me thinks their management is a bit smarter than that.

That's too good to be true about Walcott, BS until a more reputable source reports it.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Now here's a reliable transfer source:
According to RP-Online, Arsenal have made an official bid of 43 million euros + bonuses for Granit Xhaka. An agreement is imminent. Borussia Mönchengladbach are looking to sign Rode from Bayern as replacement.

According to German outlet Rheinische Post (apparently they're local press in West Germany or something?), Arsenal had made a formal 43mil euros bid (35 + bonuses) for Xhaka and a move is "imminent".

Wenger must rate the guy very highly if he's willing to spend that much on him. Either that or he's not going to mess around on fees this summer.
Admittedly I've not seen him much, but could we get away with a Xhaka-Cazorla midfield or would we need a DeeEM to partner him?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I haven't really kept an eye on him but he did have a big reputation when he was at Basle. I'd rather we go for this guy rather than someone like Kante. He looks like he can still improve and reach the next level where as Kante, this is as good as it gets for him.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
SportBild claim to have an "exclusive" on this tomorrow aswell. (https://mobile.twitter.com/Ozzywessi/status/730120156094042113)
The price tag is interesting because from next summer Xhaka has a release clause of €25m.
Maybe this is really Wenger's last season.
