Re: Barclay's Premier League '15-'16 discussion V8
The truth is, Lamela was hyped to no end before he joined Spurs and he has bad first few seasons. Now he is peforming better than his first 1-2 seasons and fans are simply happy that a player with such a price tag is performing good again. And that is the reason his performances are being rated so highly by fans in every match

Re: Barclay's Premier League '15-'16 discussion V8
Same Spurs fans who wanted him gone lol.
They have no reason to overhype him beyond his standard lol.
Because he doesn't have amazing stats doesn't mean they are wrong, same as none of you paid attention to Ozil until he was getting assists every week despite the fact he always played well and isn't doing anything different.
To be frank and no offence, I believe CB and the likes who actually watch him on a regular basis than the stats tirade.

Charlie Austin has joined Southampton for £4m. I wonder if they'll try to offload either Pelle or Long now in January, they don't need all three of them.

Spurs 0 - 1 Sunderland. Van Aanholt.
Brilliant through ball from Adam Johnson to set it up, too.
EDIT: And now it's 1-1 straight away. Eriksen.

Nice goal by Dembele.
It looked like Alli punched a Sunderland player after a tackle, I wonder if that's going to lead to anything.

The deflection on Eriksen's shot made it look like an amazing goal.

Art Morte wrote:What's so funny about goals and assists? They win you games. And Lamela is a forward after all.
There's nothing inherently wrong with goals and assists, there is however something wrong with using solely goals and assists to assess a player you don't even watch, and trusting that over the judgement of people that do watch those players.
Using these methods you would have to reach the conclusion that Iniesta is an underperforming AM because he rarely gets either, when in fact he will retire as an all time Spanish great.

I do watch Lamela when I watch a Tottenham game, like today, for instance - and he's done ef all

Agreed, today, not a very inspired display. He is still an inconsistent player - either amongst the best or the worst of the day.

In other news, Shelvey & Colback starting in midfield for Newcastle. And Delph & Fernando for Man City... Sterling apparently benched for Iheanacho.

Colback genuinely has to murder somebody to get dropped apparently

Meanwhile, a 33-yo Leon Britton - who's never been Premiership quality in his career - started for Swansea in their last game.

Shelvey has loads of potential, he might be inconsistent but you just need to keep his head right and he can at times produce WC performances.
