i have to say , though it hasn't yet resulted in anything in particular , not yet at least , we're better without Montolivo in 4-4-2 . At the very least , we are yet to miss him on the field so far .

Don't know what will happen next , but i imagine it would be much better had Bertolacci not been missing from the field all this time .

De Sciglio playing surprisingly well so far

true , even though i am yet to be convinced with his passing game when under pressure

it's not like i expect him to become Xavi out of nowhere , but at least have some conviction his pass has a chance to find a teammate when pressured

but yes he's going well this game , responsive and doesn't mess around

as for our play , we've been pretty poor near the box

Agreed, we need to stop taking pot shots outside the box and start stringing passes and try to unlock the defense

Our game has become seriously direct and straight forward , only Bonaventura takes time to think and even himself can't nail it all the time

I think we could really do with Balotelli when he comes back . They don't know how to keep the ball near the area unless Bonaventura is around tbh

I liked the midfield 4 , though Cerci , meh.. not bad , nothing to show for so far . Jack a quiet half so far , with efforts that didn't bare fruit. Kucko with a neat first half , balanced play and focused. Bertolacci needs to get in form , obvious he's been a little behind , but was precise with the ball and made himself available pretty nicely. I really want to see more of this , all Bonaventura , Bertolacci and Kucka on the pitch .

Defence alright stuff , i was worried with the yellows early on , Mexes and Bertolacci . Thankfully we calmed down , let's hope no reds next half , they better not mess this up .

Bacca continues to lack meaningful service and Bonaventura rarely can find the pass to him , but he's been trying a lot . Pretty meh first half , though i have no doubt he only needs one good chance

Niang either places himself properly in between Samp's defensive lines , in order to run at defenders , or simply try and sustain possession for someone else to break through, can't keep running toward walls or closed corridors all the time. Not a bad half by any means , however he didn't utilise the ball efficiently , hopefully he's more threatening 2nd half.

All in all mediocre stuff , we need wayy more than this to open the score. Let's hope they understand why Bacca is there and think before they act near the box

0-2 , clean win , enjoyed this one . Not a particularly impressive game by us , but it had its moments ; we also showed our serious face here and worked to stay ahead and eventually take the win , can't but be pleased in the end

I have to say Berto played well today, like you said, did great in engineering the first goal, i'm hoping more of the same for him. Niang, Bacca, MDS, all great as well.

Wish we could play like this against the scrubs, o well, on to mighty Frosinone next

i particularly liked Jack-Berto-Kucko .. they didn't rekt the game or anything , but did a solid job toward winning this game

I think it's almost imperative both Bertolacci and Kucka keep playing , we can build on that actually.

Shame we don't have better fullbacks so we could play proper diamond and make use of Montolivo better.. anyway , was a positive evening , though i can't actually take much home , that idiot Zukanovic basically surrendered the game with his red . But ok , it was a decent performance and come to think of it , just a coppa italia game , the result is what we wanted and we took it being the better team , i was pleased
