McLarens 2012 car looking boss

beeautiful car, infact appearance wise now looks very similar to that of last year car, its still evolution to last year car, except that this year blown diffuser is banned thats the biggest change with periscope style back ; exhaust exiting within a very tight space at rear and not channelling all the way near to diffuser like last year and only positioning allowed upto 30 degrees....(sited at a particular vertical and horizontal angle - between 10 and 30 degrees upwards) to avoid making exhaust influence on diffuser, also now like in live Q&A paddy low said now there is very strict scrutiny on engine mapping.... saw live yesterday, also the L-shape (or U shaped when u put together) sidepods are gone, also new rule of nose heights i feared that mclaren will also gonna look f...kugly like caterham, but no its really beautiful car indeed.

the most im really excessively interested in seeing is the rear body work, and the floor-diffuser areas, hard to see in yesterday live unveiling or pictures mclaren have posted ... cant wait for jerez test...just few days away

looks similar to its predecessor infact very similar to mcLaren MP4-25 i cant help but notice mclaren sidepods looks a lot like BMW Sauber F1.09.

anyway Technical Director Paddy Low, and engineering director Tim Goss said while it looks beautiful car, and may look like not so much has changed, they said internally its a completely refined and changed car, only 5% remains of what last year car was. and by the time they are going to be ready for Australia their car is changed a lot with upgrades, perhaps i think he is talking obviously about important components like diffusers, floors, etc.

guys, dont forget today ferrari will unveil their new car, unfortunately the unveiling event is actually cancelled but online pictures, technical interviews will be online... at 10 CET.. i think.

February 1 McLaren-Mercedes MP4-27 (Mclaren technology centre, woking, unveiled)
February 3 Ferrari Fiorano test track (cancelled, online 10 CET... check website)
February 3 Sahara Force India-Ferrari Silverstone (online)
February 6 Sauber-Ferrari C31 Jerez de la Frontera
February 6 Red Bull-Renault RB8 On their official web site
February TBA Williams-Renault FW34 Location to be announced
February TBA (after Jerez test) Mercedes AMG W03 Location to be announced (maybe in Stuttgart, or in during test day)

Technical Q&A with McLaren’s Lowe and Goss (via formula 1 website)

Just hoping Mercedes GP don't eff it up like last season. They supposedly delayed their testing this year. Doesn't look promising.

Ferrari yesterday just unveiled their new 2012 challenger, Ferrari F2012. due to nose regulation to lower the nose as mandatory im not surprised like Caterham, Force India and now Ferrari has fugly nose (prancing platypus i would say to this new ferrari 2012 challenger), otherwise the design look really aggressive, the body work, from front all the way to the back looks fairly impressive. there should be no surprise with front wing because they have been testing and adopting red bull style flexi-front wing. pullrod suspension both back and front as many predicted for aggresive approach to their design philosophy to achieve more mechanical-aerodynamic efficiency as most teams nowadays do, exhaust i have no idea because seems to me its pointing too close to diffuser, im no technical geek, so i will have to see review of scrabs journal on his analysis; maybe thats why they have been pushing to the bounds. sidepods look more like Mercedes GP type of MGP-W02. rear bodywork looks nicely designed fairly impressive. and all teams hide their diffuser until jerez test and thats not also probably final upgrade so interesting to see the test session in jerez no surprise if most teams have modified diffusers due to blown-diffuser ban.
my impression is that this ferrari looks very impressive and possibly is a title contender.
(internally pretty soon formula 1 technical info will give analysis im sure, and interestingly im keen to hear more about their engine exhaust modification due to ban of blown exhaust this is one of the hot topic that ferrari are trying to gain from ban loss),

Interview, with Technical Director (Pat Fry) & Chief Designer (Nicolas Tombazis)

this season is rubbish. the best car, or the best driver, or aerodynamics and car development has completely become secondary thing. lot has to do with the race track temp ... so weather plays big part in tyres!! then car setup, well teams will do that based on what they learn in previous day in practice but next day temp is different and then car behaves different.

the compound pirelli has introduced is so over sensitive that their characteristics is really strange in a way that operating window of tyres is so narrow and teams have to pray for the weather because even the slightest ups and down ... we are talkin about a degree or two up or down will draw a line between winner and looser. it seems even the worst car can or will win the race.

for example, qualy is done in later afternoon when temp will fall down gradually, or even 1 or 2 degrees down will favor cars whose tyres will work perfect in cold temp. then come race day when it is at 2:00 afternoon normally and is scorching hot, some teams setup their car on what they have learnt the day before the race. then its completely different car next day in race.

this is bit boring, i have no problems with pirelli tyres level of degradation and all, but the tyres which is super sensitive to weather is kind of rubbish. team have to just pray for the weather or temperature that suits their style.

and lets be honest temp. doesnt remain constant all day.

only team that has been constantly making their car or tyres work is lotus f1.

the rest is having a lottery race. i was thinking that mclaren or red bull will run off from the rest of the field because red bull cars are aerodymanically superior to anyone, their car suit high speed corner circuits like barcelona, but lol, they were quite slow, mclaren had strange day where surprisingly lewis 2 stop strategy with one tyres lasting more than 24 laps i think, was so good and even was able to keep up with the likes of rosberg. started right off from the back!!

meanwhile button who had like 2 fresh set of hard compound which was clearly the best choice than soft, he was suffering so bad, sauber easily past him, i thought jenson would take handful of points.

i think this year team who understand the tires and how to use tires based on track temp. range and based on how they set up their car on tyres working window will win, who scores consistent points will win, and not necessarily team who win win races.

If Wehrlein is put in Nico's seat i think it's safe to assume that Lewis has his road pretty clear to a 4th wc if not 5th.

Sainz needs a better car asap.

If i'm not mistaken Montoya set it in that same circuit with Williams back in like 2003.

Anyone follow Carlos Sainz? He needs a good car to prove himself already.

I hope not. Even though I am an Alonso fan, I have always supported Ferrari and Vettel in the title fight.

But Vettel's made me shift to Hamilton and Mercedes for the title, his constant bitching and crying have really put me off, while after a difficult start, Lewis put his head down and drove the wheels of the Mercedes while Vettel keeps binning it and blaming others. Vettel is very fast, but his lack of racecraft will always keep him a step below the likes of Hamilton and Alonso.

I hope now that Kimi is probably out of Ferrari he will not play second fiddle anymore and fight for every race. Though the team will probably keep shafting him on strategy...

I've watched a handful of races this season and the amount of actual racing is disappointingly low, especially if there are no crashes and safety car. Too much is about preserving the tires and timing your pit stops right.

Also the fact that two teams are way ahead of the pack is boring. It's like every race is two separate races; that between Ferrari and Mercedes and another between all the rest.

Longest time between first and last win.

Old record, 14 years and 1 month, Michael Schumacher
New record, 15 years and 7 months, Kimi Räikkönen

dangerous crashes in motorsport have been happening a lot lately. Someone died last week in a GP2 race at Spa, Belgium when he crashed against barricades, rebounded back on to the track and a following car zipped right through his car, leaving it in two parts.

Then there was another video of stock cars all crashing into one barricade against each other due to heavy rain and not yet having put the suitable tyres on.
