Jose Mourinho says jeering Manchester United fans will not make him cry in an emotional defence of his managerial legacy, and has urged them to lower expectations.

The Old Trafford crowd were left displeased with their team's cautious display during Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Sevilla which saw them crash out of the last 16 of the Champions League.

However, Mourinho was quick to remind the United faithful of the club's recent failings in Europe.

It's not about losing to Sevilla, it's about HOW you lost to Sevilla. To have that many talented players at your disposal and struggle to even do the simple things is an unreal thought and quite clearly the sign of a manager out of touch with his players and therefore, his work

good points. Man.U fans still think they are worldclass, but in reality they are on the same level as Sevilla, AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund etc. They have 0 world class players. Mourinho is doing the best he can with B class material. You can say "he got the tactics wrong", but what if he knows and sees that he has to play this way (2 holding defending midfielders), because playing with attacking midfielders against Sevilla would have crushed them even more.
