Rafa has named a squad of 19 players for the game corresponding to matchday 14 of La Liga that Real Madrid will play against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabéu (Saturday, 4pm CET).

Defenders: Pepe, Nacho, Arbeloa and Danilo.

Bale has been excellent. And so has Lucas who is pushing up to help Bale when he has no options.

I know this is only Getafe but this performance is encouraging. Still some way to go though, there was a point in the game when Modric and Peoe passed the ball between themselves for a good minute because the only options they had Bale, Lucas and Kroos were outnumbered and Ronaldo, Benz and James were standing in a line next to eachother up top. Well at least Bale got the memo which is good

I like the Pepe and Nacho partnership. Nacho pushes up while Pepe cleans up after him behind. It will be a travesty if Pepe gets benched when the others come back. I dont care how old he is, he is better than the rest and is showing no signs of slowing down

Sarabia getting the better of Danilo regularly. Need better defending and coordination there between Danilo and James

Lastly, i think we can safely assume we will be back to a 433 from now on. Good of Rafa to recognise this and change

Pretty flawed system similar to The previous 424. James is playing as LW and midfield is abandoned with only modric and Kroos. It works because Getafe socks.

more good movement and finishing from benzema that never happens as usual .

hopefully he goes onto regain that pre injury form that never happened.

rafa still sucks and the team still looks confused half the time, will take them 3pts at least.

James tries too hard sometimes and it results in cheap turnovers. He plays like he has a chip on his shoulders. Need to calm down.

What is the point of this line up? We are supposed to play and find a solid line up that can be improved upon. Instead we are playing a line up that never works against big teams.

How are we supposed to form some kind of team chemistry with this approach.

Rafa is changing formations too much and no I’m not against rotation. This is completely different.

Rafa plays so many formation in different game instead of one universal formation. He should choose one formation and fit personels into it instead of trying different set up for different people. Even one player change is making us go changec our formation. It doesn’t help our team chemistry at all.

At start played 4231

Then played 4132

Then brought some stability with his 433 of Modric-Casemiro-Kroos

Then against Seville we saw 4312 with isco as 1 and Bale and Ronaldo strikers.

Then against Barca 424 with 3 strikers and James at LW

Then back to 433 for a week.

Today again 424 in build up.

What is this? Get a formation dude

We actually played a strict 433 today with Kroos back to his Carlo role and when defending played a 442. If there is one formation i prefer to play with our current personell its a 433

I have no complaints about today. We play Villarreal next week. Our first test with all the attackers back

I can't count the amount of ( great) crosses James made from LW today. He played as a LW and tried his best to track back but that's it. If that was a 433 then we have completely different opinion about formations.

Its looking very similar to when we had ADM playing at CM. The CMs push up to help the attackers and fullbacks.

Not a bad match by any means but I do not like how we give our opponents so much time and space on the ball.

ADM was much better operating as a LCM though since he had played that role before lot of time and since when did our formation with ADM become example for a strict 433?

It is a wicked 433/422 system. I agree we are trying to recreate that system with no use, James doesn't have the engine nor the defensive ability to play that role.

Instead of trying some actual formation we plays this failed line up.

This is the only formation you can accomodate all of BBC. Picture yourself in Rafa's shoes is there any other formation that would work?? Also this is the formation Kroos played his best football in. I personally welcome it over the failed 4231 we tried earlier in the season.

News flash. BBC doesn't work. Not with James atleast defensively. BBC with James have never won a big game ever.

If I was in charge I would never play all of them together.

The sooner you (I, and everyone else) accepts that BBC will play no matter what the sooner we can actually get forward in our discussions/debates. Everyone knows the BBC is too weak defensively but there is no point repeating it like it will ever change

James is going to have to adapt to a new role or ride the bench because unless there is an injury to one of them the only spot he can realistically fight for is the LCM which is more suited for Isco but thats a discussion for another day

James should play on the right side. He's better then bale. Bale has looked the same as he has last season. But whatever..

Don't understand halas hate on james. He's been one of our better players this season

i think its based on who we got rid of to get james. he liked di maria (most of us did), so to get someone who doesn't put in the shift di maria did and probably isn't as good (this is subjective, me personally, i think di maria's a better footballer) probably frustrates him. i don't know about him being one of our better players, he definitely isn't a scrub, he can play, and we see that by the goals he scored. but if i was to use a rough assessment of our player of the day thread, i'd say modric has been one of our better players....in a season so far that hasn't been stellar. its no hate on james, its just the situation he's in....he'll really need to adjust to one of these unfamiliar positions or sit on the bench, sad, cos he's a good player....too many cooks in the kitchen scenario

I was thinking Bale on the left and having ronaldo/benz up top. I think bale's kick and run is actually pretty good on the left. Plus he actually played defense today so if he can do that there then all the better.
The idea for me is to have casemiro and modric in the middle for more defensive cover
