Arsenal's Theo Walcott targeting return to action before end of the month

@JamesOlley

Spoken to Theo Walcott's camp this morning. Am told rumours of an injury setback are nonsense. Still planning for late Nov/early Dec return.

Bellerin fit to face West Brom, but Chamberlain and Ramsey won't be available.

Wenger on injuries: "Arteta looks to be a calf problem. Coquelin looks to be a bit more severe with a knee problem."

Not signing a striker was one thing. Not signing a midfielder is now biting us in the ass. Totally avoidable. There were options this summer but we were naive.

There can't be ONE person who didn't dread a Coquelin injury - you know it was bound to happen soon.

Let's be honest, Coquelin is out for the season.

Flamini/Arteta starting week in week out :brickwall:

Atleast Wenger will (surely) be looking to sign a DM in January.

We could've got Krychowiak for £20m last summer, now we'd have to pay £40m according to his new release clause

Coquelin out for 3 months with knee ligament strain, according to reports tonight. Arteta also injured. Both out of #afc game v Zagreb.

There goes our title challenge.

Hope both are out as well. Just because they are DM doesn't mean they are a good enough option to play. Both will cause more problems than help out.

Hope Ramsey is back

Ramsey-Cazorla might be poor defensively, but its better than Arteta-Cazorla or Flamini-Cazorla.

Chambers could be an option too but not sure how that's gonna work out.

Chambers and Bielik are objectively better options at DM than Arteta and Flamini.

agreed. But Wenger will never try that. Stubborn bastard.

From what I've read he has been pretty underwhelming this season for Sevilla.

He's been inconsistent like the rest of the team; good in the big games, but not against lesser opposition. More than anything this year he's being exposed for being an average passer.

He's certainly not a €45 million player (his new release clause).

Coquelin out for "at least two months" following scans. Arteta also out.

Ramsey is available for the Zagreb game tomorrow, however.

Notice how Coquelin is supposed to come back in February, just after the transfer window ends.

No doubt, we will hear about a "setback" which will keep him out until the end of season, but only after the January transfer window ends.

If it is two months, then he won't be back until the end of Feb/start of March.

The suggestion I got from the press conference today was that it could be longer than two months. Wenger did say this as well:

“Yeah, of course. That depends now on what comes out of the scan for Francis, and then we see. I will do what is needed, knowing as well that in January it’s not an ideal transfer market.”

But we'll see.
