Us? Want to sign an injury-riddled, made-of-glass busted flush striker whose best form is years behind him? NEVER!

Strange, isn't it?
I doubt we actually want to sign him, tbh.

Given our track record? Nothing these clowns at boardroom level could do would surprise me.

Honestly, our board is 10x smarter than most, look at the foolish purchases of Barca, Madrid, Milan, City or Utd.
We do better than most of them, and every club makes mistakes.

Making the same mistake over and over and over again though? The list of strikers our hierarchy has signed down the years is just shocking.

Could have done better, I agree.
But signing a CF is never easy.
Still, we're doing better in almost every other area of the pitch.

The only CF we've signed since then is Falcao, and he was never first choice.
Players form diving has very little to do with signings.

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
I was talking about the team as a whole.
The fact is, we've sold some pretty fantastic players lately (namely since José arrived – hmmm...), and signed some pretty horrific ones in their place; most of whom were so bad and were such instantaneous and monumental flops that they had to be flogged off less than a year after they arrived.

I am all for signing Stones, but it shouldn't be in Jan, wait until June, ffs.

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
I wouldn't be against signing him next month. Look at what Cahill did for us that season after being signed in Winter 2012. But anything but another month of back-and-forth cat-and-mouse bullshit like we had to endure all last summer, for the love of god.

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
I think we should make signings independent from Jose because he won't be here next season, and if we're aiming for Pep or Simeone, we can sign similar players, tbh.
I'd also sign a Spanish FB, then we have Branna as cover for CB. One of Gaya, Gaspar or De Marcos. All of them are attack minded but decent in defence.
Then get rid of Flopcao and bring in Berahino.
Then, and only then, should be make a deal with Everton for Stones. Perhaps a loan back til the end of the season?

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
I think the club are seeing Terry's career drawing to a close and recognising that apart from Cahill and Zouma, we've no one else for the center of defence. I also think they're rightly and indeed independent of José, resolved on adding more English players to the side to rebuild the English backbone we always had in the past. Whether that's a good enough reason for going after the player, and especially as doggedly as we have and appear to be gearing up to continue to, is another matter, but I do think this pursuit is a club thing rather than a Mourinho one.

It definitely is, but he is not a priority in Jan, he is a signing (which I believe will happen) which can wait.

Rightly or wrongly, I think the club will look at our plight this season and think our shambolic defence very much needs improving.

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
They should look at our FB's and CM's before they look at CB's, though.
That said, I can see us sign Stones on deadline day for 55-60M after chasing him since Jan 1. Djilobodji (who?) will be sold within the first few days of Jan, and that will be all of our changes

Re: The 2016 January Transfer Window Thread
People expecting a huh-uge January are misguided I think. Not that it needs repeating, but most players in general, much less the best ones, are not available in January, and the ones that can be pried away can only be so at exorbitant prices. I think our window will be tame to be honest.

Watch us sign Sergi Roberto instead of the players I want

Didn't you buy another CB only last summer? Has he ever played?

yes, Djilobodji.Hapless_Hans wrote:Didn't you buy another CB only last summer? Has he ever played?
He was rejected by every other EPL team, he is absolute rubbish and has only played 1 minute for us since signing. I don't even know why we signed him.

Pls Sergi Roberto Carlos is for sale, and we'll buy him, just like we're doing with all your fringe players.

Also, what does everyone make of the rumours that we're signing Teixeria in Jan? He seems convinced we've made an offer.

I think he'll go well with last January's signing Douglas Costa.
