Who's the ultimate badass?
Your Favorite Villain/Antihero
When intelligence meets badassery. What we're looking for here is highly intelligent criminals or villains who, despite being very evil, made you like them, sometimes even more than the main protagonist.
Me personally, the only two villains who stood out above everybody else are Anton Chigurh and Lorne Malvo. They are the devil himself, but somehow I can't help but admire their intelligence and ruthlessness. If I had to choose one of them as the ultimate badass, I'd go for Anton because he never got caught, as opposed to Lorne.
I apologize in advance for those who didn't see their favorite villain in the poll. Obviously, I can't list them all. However, you can vote for 'other' and specify which is which in your post.
Let the battle of the badasses commence!

Re: Your Favorite Villain/Antihero
Based on your criteria, I voted for Moriarty.
However, my favorite villain is easily Joffrey Baratheon. The way he effortlessly makes almost every person hate him - while at the same time being a 100% legit teenage troll - seals it for me.

Of course there are a lot of GOAT ones, but Dexter Morgan had a profound impact on my life if I can say that without sounding like a future serial killer

Re: Your Favorite Villain/Antihero
Guys, your favorite villain has to be extremely intelligent, a master tactician and a ruthless badass. These criteria only leave the cream of the crop standing.
Here's an example to further illustrate my point:
Let's say I wanted to include characters from GoT here. We all know that show is filled with villains. I can't possibly choose Joffrey for example. Because even though he was ruthless, he wasn't that intelligent.
I can't include someone like Tyrion or Varys, because they're not villains even though they're extremely intelligent. However, I can include someone like Tywin or Littlefinger because they are ruthless and very smart all at once.

Re: Your Favorite Villain/Antihero
There are 2 kinds of villains who garner the most attention and cult following.
One is the villain who is not actually a villain. Antihero yep. Joker , Loki , Hannibal Lecter (in silence of the lambs), Tyrion, Pennsatucky (in Orange is the new black, ). People love them despite knowing they oppose the good guys. Those type of villains are cool to support and there will be a huge cult following for them. All these are great villains, no 2nd thought about that.
But then theres the 2nd type. the ones who simply cant be defeated. Pure evil. (Eventhough Hannibal lecter qualifies in both categories) Forms of devil himself like Demon of Carthage said. Those are the ones I personally favor. Where the hero (good guy) is often left helpless and even stupid, lol . I am a fan of such characters.
So my favorites are obvious ones
1.Chigurh and Malvo (Both Coen creations, so can be included together)
2.Chang from Ony God Forgives.
3.Camiel Borgman from the Dutch film Borgman.
...... to a lesser exten Keyser Soze in Usual Suspects.
There are many more which I dont remember right now.

Re: Your Favorite Villain/Antihero
It's difficult to include Game of Thrones characters in these kind of lists because of the complexity of the story and characters. Is Tyrion Lannister a villain, a hero, an antagonist? In my opinion he is neither, he is an anti-villain. He tries to do good things but goes on about it in a wrong way.
But to keep it short and simple, Darth Vader is my favourite villain, he's complex, badass, frightening.

nothing in No Country For Old Men suggests Chigurh is extremely intelligent IMO
I'm going to be a nerd and say Makishima Shougo from Psycho Pass (anime) though

Not really. He kills the bad guys who escaped the sword of justice. That makes him sort of like a modern day Batman. Plus, I think he would get murdered within seconds if he was to go up against Mikkelsen's Hannibal. He's not even the baddest and most intelligent in his own category let alone overall.
