Re: The Walking Dead III
Really disappointed, I also expected to lose a chunk of deadweight characters like the priest, Spencer, the girl Abraham used to bump uglies with.
Such a shame that they made Morgan so unlikable. Might have quit the show if he had cost Carol her life somehow but it's fine, he's just cost the group a loose end who will inevitably get someone else killed and then there'll be a whole focus episode on Morgan losing his shitty 'all life is precious' philosophy and losing his mind again, no?
I had a feeling Deana was gonna go and I wasn't too sad to see it happen but, christ, did they have to turn her from this widowed, struggling leader into a wise grandmother imparting words of encouragement to literally everyone who happens to stumble by her bed on the way to the bathroom? Every line got cliche af and it happened so quickly.
I did like her last scene though, that was intense.

OMG it's solely so worth that all of us watch the show just to read the comments in this thread afterwards.
Uhm, what an underwhelming mid-seasonale. All the hype was just basically building up to a post credit scene. Meh.
Morgan is unbearable. Sweet face blondie's sons are unbearable. Eugene is unbearable. God is he the biggest pussy ever?
This half season has been The Walking Dead's poorest run ever.

Re: The Walking Dead III
Yikes you guys are brutal.
Not up to the standard of past mid-season finales, but I thought it had it's moments. For me, the ploy that Rick used with these folks that we saw earlier in the show was more than just a redundant means of getting out of a bad situation. This episode was obviously about Deanna officially passing the torch to him, but with Rick that's not enough. These folks needed to be initiated into his group and what better way than to put guts all over and sneak out among the walkers? By doing this, I think this is Rick's way of binding these folks to his group so I like that symbolism, even if it may not end the way he wants it to end (if you've read the comics, you likely know what's coming right at the beginning of the mid-season premiere.).
As for the Morgan/Carol arc, I do agree...that was pretty badly done. Been a long time since I've seen Carol this irrational and it's not a good look on her. Color me crazy, but I don't mind Morgan's naivety. Gave us great dialogue between him, the nurse and the Wolf (Dave Grohl ), which for me was probably among the best of this half of the season.
Given that I never believed Glen to be dead anyway, I don't have the saltiness that many of you have regarding his survival. My one gripe with this entire half of the season is that it was strung out far too much over a short span of time. Too many perspectives that really didn't need to be explored. The group was far too fractured for far too long. Beyond that, I didn't think it was horrible, just not up to snuff.

Yeah of course not horrible.

Deanne showing expertise marksmen level of gun shooting at the end there with them head shots. eh???
The writers have made Morgan my most hated character on the show, even surpassing Corall......round of applause to the writers, that is quite an accomplishment. The guy is beyond stupid with this whole lets not kill and lets love one another philosophy. smh. And his martial arts skills is not convincing, it looks corny.
The characters forgetting how to run and suddenly falling just as the zombies broke loose was annoying.
That kid at the end
Coral- "Yea my dad killed your dad, but your dad was an asshole" hahaha that dialogue.

I loved this comeback:
Ron: "Your dad is a killer."

Lol TWD seems to break record ratings every week. Don't take that too seriously.
Although I'm actually surprised it appeals to such a wide demographic.

Actually this season The Walking Dead has suffered in ratings.
Even though I expect them to increase again in Season 7 knowing what's coming up.

High ratings are the reason for the drop in quality.
They can show an episode of Carl going on a journey to find the best toilet and it will draw more people than 80% of the shows

Incredible how much the walkers have been changed since S1.
Been watching the first episodes and they actually RUN, they climb fences, crawl, THROW ROCKS, and are a lot more agressive than they are now.
Can't decide if this change is for the worse or for the better tbh but it's interesting.

I think they're better now, zombies that can "do stuff" don't feel like zombies to me.
I'd only like the walkers to be able to move faster than just walking. It would make them more dangerous and would enable the writers to write more versatile zombie scenes. Many of the death scenes wouldn't also feel so clumsy (like Easterman's or the Alexandrian guy who got bitten in the face early this season) if the zombies could move a bit quicker. It's gotten a bit boring that every time the walkers feel actually threatening is when you're surrounded by loads of them or surprised by one of them when he's right there next to you.

Re: The Walking Dead III
Also have to take into account how the walkers have been exposed to the elements with their bodies decomposing.
But there's definitely been a shift in how walkers work in TWD universe. Think we've talked about it earlier in the thread but in the first episode Morgan's dead wife turned a doorknob and he said something about walkers being more active at night because of "the cool air" or some shit like that lol.

Re: The Walking Dead III
Yeah exactly what I was thinking about zombie deaths now. Characters have to behave in stupid/unbelievable ways to be surprises by these slow zombies.
Not saying that S1 zombies are better but they are a lot more scarier/dangerous. Them having the ability to pick up things and climb is over the top but them just being a bit quicker would make a lot death scenes more believable.
I'm watching some scenes from early S1 and I can feel the threat even though I know who dies/survives.

Re: The Walking Dead III
Caught up on the latest season because I'm loyal.
Hoping Morgan and any other melodramatic character dies soon. So sick of the thing where they dub the sound, and someone just stares at a growling walker for 20 seconds because they're confused about the world.
Rick and Carol are the goats with their no nonsense, no bs approach. I also hate it when someone tries to convince a randomer to return to safety despite not knowing them. Why? If they don't want to live, then leave them. Stop wasting time. Talking mainly about Glenn/Enid scenes.
And if they aren't going to find a cure for the disease, the best place to live would be on an island mansion with solid walls surrounding it. The water would be clean to drink and they'd have boats/planes to travel for supplies. A farm on it for milk etc.
Maximum 6-7 people, each sleeping in a cell with a combination you'd put in to unlock. So if someone were to die and turn, they wouldn't walk around the mansion. That's a dream scenario though, doubt they'd ever find such a place.

On February 14.
Jessie's two sons need to be hit by a nuclear warhead. But since it's a post-apocalyptic scenario, I'll settle for them being ripped to shreds by walkers.

Daryl knocks the other guy out and rpg's the bikers? Though I heard somewhere more people are gonna die this season, so wouldn't be surprised if either one of Sasha or Abraham bow out.
