The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the dispute between the Turkish football player Hakan Çalhanoğlu and the Turkish football club Trabzonspor FC.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu is ordered to pay EUR 100,000 to Trabzonspor FC. Furthermore, the four-month ban imposed on Hakan Çalhanoğlu by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (FIFA DRC), which was suspended at the beginning of the CAS proceedings, is reinstated with immediate effect

Re: Hakan Çalhanoğlu appreciation thread
Apparently in 2011, when he was 17 and playing for the Karlsruher SC, he (i.e. his dad) signed some sort of contractual agreement for a transfer to Trabzonspor, but then he signed a new contract at KSC on top and stayed there instead of transfering.
Trabzonspor sued him for breach of contract and voila, 5 years later he's banned for 4 months from playing for Leverkusen.

Seems fair.
Actually, cant decide if I want to laugh or cry for The Pretenders.
Should have sold him last week when they had the chance.

all sounds pretty ridiculous if it was so long ago, alright..compensate them with a fine but why ban him for 4 months after all this time? quite literally pointless

Doesn't seem fair at all. Why he should bear the punishment? Should have been the club instead.elfmeter wrote:Hapless_Hans wrote:Apparently in 2011, when he was 17 and playing for the Karlsruher SC, he (i.e. his dad) signed some sort of contractual agreement for a transfer to Trabzonspor, but then he signed a new contract at KSC on top and stayed there instead of transfering.

Why should he not bear the punishment? he signed 2 contracts. The club (Leverkusen) are a victim here.

Well yeah, its definitely his dad's/agent's fault. It falls on him though, sadly. I'm guessing Leverkusen are gonna get hammered by Atletico even more now.

Is completely irrelevant.
Btw IMO a 17 year old knows that signing a contract for 2 different clubs can't be right.
I do believe him that it would've been far from easy to tell his father no though.

That was basically his defense.. "in my culture you don't disobey your father" lmao (his father is not his representative anymore)
He's a bit of an idiot regarding contract and transfer behaviour I guess, or at least he was. His behaviour when leaving HSV was pretty stupid and immature too IIRC. Or maybe it was indeed his dad who was the douche, who knows.

Calhanoglu: “Ibrahimovic is 40 years old, I wouldn't do that [his antics] if I were 40. You are not 18 years old. He likes to attract attention, he is living with them now. He had no contribution this year, he did not play at all.”

Lmao he can play till 60 and still not accomplish half of Zlatan's career.

Re: Hakan Çalhanoğlu appreciation thread
I read the whole interview... quite bitter this guy... probably cried for how Milan fans treated him
Ibra is respected and loved by all despite being a dick most of the time
meanwhile i can hardly think of a player less cool than Hakan Calhanoglu. Still lives off his freekick against Hamburg in 2015, the epitome of a useless player with slightly above average technique on a good day.

He's played a very good season this year, even scored in Coppa Italia final, that's the only important thing.

Calhanoglu is so unlikeable that him directly dodging 2 league titles by moving between Milanese team is all the funnier
