The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the dispute between the Turkish football player Hakan Çalhanoğlu and the Turkish football club Trabzonspor FC.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu is ordered to pay EUR 100,000 to Trabzonspor FC. Furthermore, the four-month ban imposed on Hakan Çalhanoğlu by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (FIFA DRC), which was suspended at the beginning of the CAS proceedings, is reinstated with immediate effect

Apparently in 2011, when he was 17 and playing for the Karlsruher SC, he (i.e. his dad) signed some sort of contractual agreement for a transfer to Trabzonspor, but then he signed a new contract at KSC on top and stayed there instead of transfering.
Trabzonspor sued him for breach of contract and voila, 5 years later he's banned for 4 months from playing for Leverkusen.

Doesn't seem fair at all. Why he should bear the punishment? Should have been the club instead.

He's a bit of an idiot regarding contract and transfer behaviour I guess, or at least he was. His behaviour when leaving HSV was pretty stupid and immature too IIRC. Or maybe it was indeed his dad who was the douche, who knows.
