Season 12/13 flashbacks already. Defended exactly like this in the Supercopa against Madrid. What happened to Vermaelen by the way? Why would Fartra come on before him?

DAT awkward moment when you wish Vermaelen comes into your defense.

There's nothing to worry about, we'll surely improve in defence. IDK why Bartra was subbed on though, Verm is fully fit AFAIK though you never know with him
It just goes to show how hard it is to win trophies.

Lmao that angle taken influences the way it looks so much. It was a clear foul from Mathieu. Awful defending from him.
Actually he was pretty bad the entire half + extra time I watched, minus a good tackle at the end. Then again, the entire defense was bad.
Agreed on it simply being a pre season game though.

It's the exact same foul by both players, which is why it isn't never a penalty. But that corrupted referee was Sevilla all match.linetty wrote:https://gfycat.com/DistinctAstonishingKoala

Mathieu always looks dubious. Sometimes gets a crucial tackle right but generally his clearances are awful and he freezes 1v1.
Still prefer Adriano despite that he's drastically declined.

Re: UEFA Super Cup 2015: Barcelona-Sevilla
Mathieu played bad as leftback this isn't news.
made me chuckle look back at 90% of every chance sevilla had and you'd see mascherano yelling at mathieu
there was a free kick where masche told mathieu go over there and he got overran, mascherano turned around and screamed at mathieu.
same with the headed goal they made.. mathieu made a decision to lose his marker and try to head the ball away, despite mascherano pointing out to him to mark the player..
he missed the header and mascherano gave him a death stare.

Yeah Masch is the boss. Seen a picture after the game of him giving a lesson to Pique next to the trophy. Must've been pissed at that disastrous performance at the back.

Entire defense got caught with it's pants down that 2nd half, but Mathieu and Barta were pretty awful pretty much 95% of the time they were on. Not even just letting players past them, but also bad positioning and missed passes.
Also doesn't help that when we needed to hold on to the ball (there is a big difference between possession and control...and we did not control but try to hold possession), we brought off Iniesta and brought on Brady Bunch, when last year we would bring on Xavi to help out. I felt that second half, that the midfielders both spent too much time near the full backs leaving more space down the middle for counters to come directly towards the center backs, leaving them to make rash decisions and bad passes under pressure.
I don't believe our team got complacent as we were clearly still trying to hold the ball and attack, but more so it looked like we just kept getting a few players out of position, which would pull other players out of position etc. and next thing you know we were just kinda standing around in all sorts off places making it easier for them to create a chance when they got the ball. That on top of terrible games by Mathieu and Bartra in particular.
How Mathieu stayed on the entire match is beyond me, which more than anything illustrates how much Lucho needs to get his head out of his ass. It seems the whole world can admit, INCLUDING MATHIEU, that Mathieu plays like crap at full back yet Lucho left him at that position for the entire game.

Re: UEFA Super Cup 2015: Barcelona-Sevilla
Thought I'd post this here, we should really have a topic on Stats record of the club.
After Tuesday night's European Super Cup victory against Sevilla, Barcelona have now triumphed in 20 of the last 40 tournaments they have played in since 2008/2009.
FC Barcelona are six for their last six in European finals

Yeah. I've already got used to Harmonica messing around. He's more of an antimadridista than a Barca fan.

Re: UEFA Super Cup 2015: Barcelona-Sevilla
But... Does anyone actually doubt that UEFA are corrupt?
The issue, as I see it, is that if UEFA were taking bribes Barça would be far more likely to pay them off than Sevilla.

You're not seeing the bigger picture. It's not Sevilla who is paying UEFA. The ones name who is doing the paying in Sevilla's behalf starts with "uncle".
