So I caved in and now Skype won't recognize my webcam. Hmm.

Also people seem to have a harder time understanding me RG, so maybe mi mic is off a bit too.

Pls I don't do any of my business in Skype

The Webcam is not showing up in the device manager so I can't update the driver. The fact that it's not being recognized is probably the issue.

1) Try plugging it into a different USB socket

I updated the audio driver and now, for some reason, the webcam is showing but the mic is still too low. Oh well, I'll take the small victories.

i just accept that i can't fix all the errors showing up in the Event Log because it's too early in the life of Windows 10... give it a month or two and then try and fix everything. BSOD are going to happen with a brand new operating system. It's nothing you've done wrong... it's the operating system that needs to get the bugs out.

I'm interested in downloading Windows 10, but I've read that Microsoft is allowed to collect, preserve and, disclose personal data from your computer.

There is ways to opt out of it by turning off things such as the personalized ads and Cortana but how trusting is this?

It's not as bad as people make it out tbh.

If you turn off some of the data sharing options like wifi sense etc then it's perfectly safe

It's probably safe even if you don't. Google already knows all those things about you, so does Apple.
But as far as I can see most everything can be turned off, and is easy to turn off.

I really didn't think of it that way, it's true that they already do and I really don't know why I was considering not downloading it.

Yeah, just downloaded it and turned almost everything off. It's currently looking pretty decent. I think the driver for my mousepad (using a laptop) got messed up though as I can't left click or right click, so I'm using an external mouse for the meantime until I figure out what's wrong with it or whether I have to reinstall the driver.

Well I just mean in the sense that it's "safe" insofar as that the big companies probably know that stuff about you. Microsoft I at least moderately trust with encryption, so yes, your data might be used for advertising (which is easy to turn off), but you're not serving them on a silver plate to hackers, which is implied by the word "safe".

Just decide what you want to share. Some data you need to share for map and cortana features, and some you really don't.
