Adit wrote:Head less chicken has nothing to do with position di Maria play. His decision making has been this shet for ages. Midfield or wing anywhere.
That simply isn't true though, but keep going lol.
It's obvious his decision making is better centrally because it suits his strengths more. On the wing he just ends up randomly running into nowhere.
Centrally limits that by design because he has more options, he'll still turn the ball over because that's who he is but it happens a lot less.
Besides his ability to drive the ball collapses the entire Chile team on to him, which hasn't happened since he went off. It just makes Argentina easier to defend regardless of whether he's playing well or not.

DI Maria isnt a headless chicken, just as he isnt a very good winger. i doubt he will find a team again that plays him as carlo did in madrid. box to box, that's where he can fully express his talent. as a winger he is a B player
That's a very good point. One of the best things about him was how he used to drive the team from midfield.

It's basically his best attribute, without it he wouldn't be all that tbh. So naturally anyway you can to maximize that ability then you do it.
Playing him out wide just limits his ability to drive and is a waste of time tbh.

Argentina looked jittery in defense especially in the first few minutes and that worried me and still worries me.
No just a long time Argentina fan. I support two national teams - Argentina and Spain. Besides there's a lot in this for Messi.

That's another very good point which explains why when so many are saying he hasn't been playing well I still think his contribution is very important.
Re: Copa América 2015
It can't be further from the truth . Di Maria didnt automatically make better decisions when he played centrally... He still tried to do that impossible cross. And marathon esque long runs to nowhere... He had a trigger happy mentality when he is close to the box. The key to paying him centrally is to make him less close to the goal so that his overall shit decision making won't be exposed that much and can still get his high work rate.
Re: Copa América 2015
Otamendi really is awful with the ball at his feet

That's kinda what i'm saying though, never said he doesn't make bad decisions just that it happens less. It isn't exposed as much because of obvious reasons.
That's kind of the idea of positions, to limit a players weakness and heighten their strengths which it what it does.

I love how the chilean wide cbs always stay calm when they are pressed. They never look for the long option opposite side to change plays but always stay short and go back to the gk. very interesting...

Good job Chile didn't listen to the wise words of Allardyce.
" Chile should sit back and hope for a set piece because they don't have much quality".

Allardyce is a fantastic man , he led his team to get the Europe with the moral values of fair play , so I believe it tbh
Strange to think Valdivia will disappear from football radar exactly after today and he will come back GOAT for next Copa America
