Let's pretend we had prime Vieira acting as our DM, would people still say we needed an upgraded defensive mid? Not saying Coq is anywhere near his level, but if you have an element that is working better than expected, why would you pay over the top for pretty much the same thing with a fancier brand slapped on it?

Because you guys have a habit of doing this whole "well he's better than expected" or "he's pretty decent" for way too long now especially since you have the money to spend now.
Forever you guys needed a better keeper but we had to hear how Chesney was better than De Gea and almost world class. Everyone else laughed that off.
OR that Giroud is a top class Center forward (and I personally like Giroud) but he is a step below the top class center forwards.
And DM, I don't think even Arsenal fans thought this position has been strong for years. Why not buy someone proven and end the nightmare at the position like you have done with Cech.
Yes Cech somewhat fell into your laps and you almost had no choice but to sign him but he will be a massive improvement.
It's the spine of your team for gods sake. Coq is decent but Arsenal can attract and sign much better players for that position.
I don't get this thinking as it's been hurting you guys for about a decade now.

Spot On. Then when Coquelin gets injuried or has a dip of form fans will call it '' bad luck '' . Wenger is getting old , I can't see him change his ideas about having at least 2 players for the keys positions of his system. That's why having great assistant is important, they can convince you to try new things.

Exactly I mean Flamini was getting major time in big games last year, there is no reason that should happen at a club of Arsenal's stature.
And the injuries WILL HAPPEN, they do every year at Arsenal.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Make a mistake once, its a lesson. Make a mistake twice, its a choice.
It's so great to have 3 good CB and 3 of
Alexis, walcott,Santi,Ozil, even Welbeck behind the striker. Then you look at the DM position ... Coquelin lol . I guess we will see Ramsey and Wilshere a lot besides him. That's good enough to finish top 4 and get through the group stages of CL but there is no way you win a title with that. that's was frustrating with Arsenal.

Despite the odd encouraging moment you’re constantly under pressure and rumours of the sack are never far away – you’re basically Gus Poyet.

Community Shield tomorrow, Chelsea v Arsenal. A pre-season friendly that actually interests me a little this year, because of the teams and managers involved. No love lost between Mou and Wenger. What are we expecting to happen in that game?

Some day, people will buy into the idea that it is not about having individual big names in individual positions, but having a team which works as a unit.
Some day.
Some day.

Brendan, is that you? Sometimes ruthless, sometimes democratic, you can make the tough decisions , even if occasionally you get them wrong. You are confident you know best – but you’ve not quite proven yourself at the very highest level yet.
You scored 74 out of 100

I'm so glad I'm not alone during this difficult period
Probably what usually happens in Arsenal/Chelsea games.

Jose, is that you? You’re ruthless, cunning and won’t let anything get in the way of your team succeeding.

Re: Barclays Premier League 15-16 Discussion-v1
Something for the people living in the UK:
Sky Sports have surrendered the rights to La Liga, leaving BT Sport to snap them up.
So that means Sky Sports have lost the Champions League and La Liga, while BT Sport have exclusive rights to the Champions League, Europa League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and La Liga (potentially) while still having the FA Cup and a handful of Premier League games.
Sky are paying £11mil per game for the Premier League but can't afford anything else, basically
BT Sport will probably have all the Premier League games before too long.

I'm just wondering are BT really sustainable and have become bigger than Sky or are they taking a risk and knowingly losing money now in the hope their investment turns profitable later.
