Arturo Vidal in Car Crash
http://www.espnfc.us/chile/story/2495039/arturo-vidal-minor-injuries-ferrari-crash-santiago-chile
It seems that Arturo Vidal crashed his Ferrari in Santiago while (allegedly) driving while intoxicated. While he suffered only minor injuries from the wreck he was taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure and will face the charge of driving under the influence once discharged.

Why did he have to do that? Dang. His future could have been affected with this crash. Fortunately he and his wife are safe.

DUI! I would personally never sign such player even if it's Messi we are talking about. Not to mention the fact that as a sportsman you should never drink, even just a glass while you are competing in a major trophy tournament.

i have played afl football at a high level and i can tell you most of the afl boys which is the biggest sport in Australia arguably do a lot of drugs and most players drink alcohol as well. It is probably the same with football overseas

Professionals should not drink while at a comp. it's basically getting drink while on a break at work.marottalad wrote:eelir wrote:DUI! This. Also I wonder if that wouldn't show up at some doping test or so nowadays and cause additional trouble. (I read that in the past players often played while "under influence" (is that PUI ) but I think if coaches would get notice of their players being drunk, that should give quite some trouble and fines for them nowadays.)Kick wrote:Professionals should not drink while at a comp. it's basically getting drink while on a break at work.

According to this (police statement) he indeed had alcohol in his blood.
If that's the case then he is an idiot. Drinking and driving with his wife, in the middle of Copa America.. Seriously

Re: Arturo Vidal in Car Crash
Drinking to wind down or with friends/family is ok. Ashley Cole was the best LB in england and would chain smoke in clubs.
What isn't acceptable is drinking and driving. In fact, that is unforgivable to anyone who has lost loved ones due to the stupidity of others. Even more insane when you think he could literally afford to pay someone to drive him and his family around if he wanted to get drunk. Don't like him at all anymore, and if Chile start him again this tournament I don't like them.

Re: Arturo Vidal in Car Crash
There are two issues here:
- lack of professionalism during an official tournament
- breaking the law... i.e. a crime
On the first one, it's up to Chile and Juve about how to deal with it. On the second... Chile and Juve have no choice but to deal with it harshly.
It's dumb on so many counts that it's not even worth talking about. But knowing Vidal's history, it's not at all surprising. The reason nobody offered a big sum to buy him from Juve the past 2 years is that he's known to party really hard and that turned a lot of teams off.

A.Vidal is actually a decent looking chap.
But
when you go from looking like
to
you deserve to be jailed.
