Heard they said virtually no loading times.
I'm interested to see what Virtually means in this instance.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
-Map based on USA, from Utah to the Pacific Ocean;
-Virtually no loading screens, including checkpoints and fast travels;
-When we boot the game, we get in really quick;
-Bigger map overall (wider and deeper);
-Explorable and dangerous oceans/lakes;
-New variety of machines (dozens of them);
-New tribes: both hostile and peaceful;
-One of the hostile tribes learned how to override machines (looking at you Sylens) and is using them for war;
-Turtles: Shellsnappers
Pterodactyls: Sunwings
Mammoths: Tremortusks
-One of the new machines (Mammoths/Tremortusks) is loaded with weapons and armor, but when fully equiped by a tribe, it gets even more dangerous;
- Collapsing biosfere is killing plants and animals;
-Weather out of control is creating huge storms;
-Appealing to both new and returning players;
-Planned to be released 2021;

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
How good is the first one and is it comparable to any other game on the market? I haven't played it but i'm interested

It's an Open World action RPG with amazing Combat against massive Machines.
If any of that is interesting to you then you should like it.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I'm like 10 hours into this. Just exploring around and doing a bunch of quests, advancing slowly in the story I would say.
Very nice looking game. The atmosphere seems great, the exploration is nice, the story seems good so far, intriguing, combat is awesome.
It's a really unique game from what I've played so far.
I can tell that I'm an absolute beginner at combat/mechanics, it seems really deep and creative with the things you can do as you get better. The hunter trials expose your skills pretty hard lol.

Yea the combat is perhaps the best part of the game.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
This game feels so much more polished than most, a similar feeling i got from ff7r. The combat flows perfectly and everything feels well finished.
Liking it a lot so far. Getting lost in the world and exploring around. Crossed some mountain off path at night, had to walk up an extremely steep snow slope to find watchers near the peak, and fight at like 60° inclination in the snowy darkness. Awesome. Made it to other side to find new machines and environments, with what looks like a T-Rex at the distance. Then looped around the mountain base back to the areas where I'm supposed to be, and reached and hunting camp.
That has been the best part of the game, exploring and fighting. Trying a bunch of different weapons and tactics as I go along.
My only problem, as it is with open world games, is the pacing. The story basically grinds to a halt if you actually explore the world.
In this one, I can tell the did a good job with this by involving the side quests into the general theme of: "seeker out to chase these killers, and help those who need her in their fight too". But it's still open world with a ton of content, and the story still suffers as a consequence.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Love unlocking different weapons and using it in cool ways vs new machines.
Now with the shadow hunter bow, and the carja sharpshooter, ropecaster, war bow, sling, there is so much you can do in combat.
Just saw tramplers and glinthawks for the first time.
The scariest was the first time seeing the snapmaws, the crocodile machines in the water.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I've been doing 100% of the game as I go along but it's gotten a bit stale. I think it's better to move at a faster pace to not get bored.
Very cool to get to Meridian and see everything open up. The hunting trials are still a highlight. The stealth ones were really hard, with all the stalkers, watchers, and shell walkers.
Missed opportunity with the hunting lodge so far imo. I've done the trophies to become a member, and now on a mission with Talahna. I would have loved a hunts system like in FFXII.

Once you unlock the strongest sling, Snapmaws become a cakewalk.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Did you guys play the DLC?
Excellent expansion. Much harder, great characters, plot, and setting. This feels like a must during a Horizon play through.
I still have to finish the main game.

I never played the DLC, because it was released after I had lent the game to a former colleague. When I asked him to get the game back, he claimed he had never borrowed it. He eventually returned the game to me, about a year later

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
The DLC is excellent, if you ever feel like playing Horizon again make sure to play through the DLC as well. The dialogue in the main game changes after you complete the DLC to account for the things you learned. Very cool, the developers clearly cared a lot about the game and the story.
I got the platinum for the base game and almost for the DLC. Maybe my 2nd or 3rd platinum I think.
Loved it.

Reserved it at my local shop, they basically do pre-orders where they reserve it and you get the bonuses, without having to pay anything upfront or committing.

IGN: 9/10
GameSpot: 8/10
Games Radar: 9/10
Kotaku, The Verge and Polygon reviews weren't overwhelmingly positive either.
Definitely a decent game, not sure if its GOTY though.
