Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
idr if I posted it but I loved how the story seemed so futuristic but at the same time realistic, you could totally imagine something like that playing out somewhere down human history, usually with games of this scope with stories as complex and sci fi as this you can poke it full of holes but not here

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Completely agree.
As I said before I'm surprised how good the story is, can't wait for the sequel.
Game is unreal for a first attempt an open world rpg, also makes me wonder how many developers out there would benefit from a complete change in genre tbh

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
after about the first 1/3 of the game I barely ever picked it up because I had a thousand +
picking up medical plants became a reflex although I often found myself relying on potions for the main story because I was just fast travelling to quests since I had unlocked all of the map and as a result didnt have a chance to pick up too many healing plants
tbh the only material I ever found myself running out of was wire, had to buy it often
had hundreds of everything else

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Sparks ( I think? used for tripcaster) are the only thing i run out of.
Made some decent progress. Level 19 now. Unlike TW3, I don't think skill points are that big of a deal in this game. Maybe late game?
Came across a place where a behemoth, shell-walkers and bandits were having a three way battle lol. Took the loot after few headshots. Good day.
Then went to this desert kinda place. A sawtooth was looking for me. I tried to distract it by throwing a rock on the other side. Hit it on his head instead
unreal chase.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
saw it slightly touched on while browsing neogaf earlier Moal but I think you would agree, IMO the single biggest 'missed opportunity' with the game was the lack of memorable boss fights, I really was expecting them to throw out these epic, unique machines. The final battle was pretty disappointing in general. But I wish there were more littered throughout the game.
You could say it makes sense from a story standpoint or something, I hope they change this in the sequel.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I don't usually care about trophies or achievements, at all, but I got the platinum trophy for this game after noticing that the only trophy I was missing was the training dummy one. Of course, that one had to be the most tedious trophy in the game

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I only needed 6 of those by the time I started actively seeking them
thankfully I have a pretty good memory and knew exactly which ones I needed after glancing at a list
but yeah it was an easy and enjoyable platinum, I usually bow out when I see collectibles but they were fun to get in this

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Yeah that's fair.
Although I think the reason it never bothered me was because how well the world was populated with Machines and well designed they were from an aesthetic point of view and attacks wise.
While it technically wasn't a boss, the first time I faced a Stormbird in the Hunters lodge quest gave me that feeling.
It feels like the game gave you more of those moments in the world seeing the machines for the first time and the how organic the gameplay was rather than having memorable in-story boss fights.
Maybe a sequel can have a mix of both.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Speaking of Neogaf opinions, saw some people say they want more water based machines in a sequel.
While it would be nice they would have to significantly change the combat in general.
Be great if they could pull it off though.

Just took down a level 27 thunderjaw by hiding behind a rock and shooting at the weak spots
What a battle lmao. Loved the design. Best machine so far.

Yakuza 0, Nioh, Nier, Horizon, Zelda thats five huge games that are not on the Xbox One. The only thing they got this year is RE7. Xbox gamers must be desperate for Mass Effect.

This is why i don't care about Scorpio lol, a more powerful machine means nothing without the games to play it on.
