I did it , taking that prime Obi Won Kenobi advice about the high ground worked
You literally can't let him hit you though, does a disgusting amount of damage.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
ES lol.
The melee isn't very good tbh, even when upgraded skills for it.
Game was clearly designed around, traps, arrows, bombs etc.
I use melee as a last resort or when they are stunned, it's quite effective on the smaller enemies though I suppose.
Don't think I'd enjoy the combat very much if I used the spear exclusively.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
I have all the medium stuff so I don't know.
I never bothered with it because stats wise it didn't seem like the heavy stuff was that much better.

enjoying everything atm, level of polish is unreal, had a few bugs though where I got stuck inside a mountain and had to warp out
everything but the spear combat is great

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Believe me if it wasn't I probably would have completed the game by now lol.
As is I'm probably nowhere near done, the amount hours I have spent just getting into random fights is *bleep* ridiculous.
Doesn't help that one fight seems to randomly turn into 5 or 6 because I somehow manage to accidently move into the habitat of another machine mid fight lol.
Just a constant battle to survive, it's realistic though because if you were a hunter you wouldn't just get tonnes of downtime just casually strolling around.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
every point of interest shows on the map though
not found anything interesting just randomly exploring
also bought some rare heavy armor for 900 shards, doesnt affect mobility from what I can tell

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
It's the emergent gameplay and world in general that makes it fun to explore imo.
Agree that I haven't found anything random outside of the machines like in other games but it doesn't seem like it needs it.
Also I have hardly looked at the map at all lol, I have a destination to go to and either go there or get side tracked a million times over.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn
Just killed my first Thunderjaw Fight got pretty intense after I pulled two robot birds and 2 ground mobs while fighting him lol. He had a shit ton of pink-level loot. I don't know if that's normal.
