I'm curious about these better available players than Schneiderlin. Only one I can think of is Krychowiak.

Maybe you are right (although from what I've seen of Schneiderlin, I think he's class) but I'd still have Schneiderlin/Krychowiak/Kondogbia over no one.

My worry is that we are not interested in a defensive midfielder at all. Arteta signed an extension, Flamini confirmed he'll stay and Coquelin signed a new long term contract. There's also Krystian Bielik for whom Wenger paid £2.5m to sign.

I would have a player who's at a similar level as Coquelin over that anyday.

I think there's a good chance Cech will be our only signing. We know all about Wenger's reluctance to buy a DM for any price, let alone £20mil+, and we don't appear to targeting any strikers, either.

So unless someone leaves, it's going to be a very quiet summer, I feel.

Still much more confident in the squad we have + Cech than any side we've had at our disposal in nearly a decade.

If Theo signs an extension then a CF is highly unlikely, leaving midfield as the only area we'd likely bring anyone in and Wenger might just wait the summer out to see if an opportunity arises.
