Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Don't want Auba.
What's the status with Illaramendi? He was supposed to be real close to the exit door in January. Now with Rafa in the dugout though, is there a change in the posture?
There is as much chance of us signing Javi Martinez as us signing both Mehsi and CRonaldo by this evening. Main man Hans can confirm
I would extend/loan Campbell and Sanogo - never know when we are in a Le-Coq-uesque situation.
Theo, Welbeck, Ox, and Jack have a lot to prove this season - both in terms of staying fit for most of the season, as well as contributing to large parts of it.
I am not sure if it was already discussed, but remember how there were complaints about Theo not being involved in the build-up a la Giroud? Think it isn't a problem if he bangs in the changes and moves around the way he does.
That said, having Theo, OllieG and Welbz - each of whom is a different type of forward, and Alexis to boot, I still feel that it is not a position which we HAVE to address this summer. With these guys staying fit, and the chemistry they've developed over the last 1-2 years, we can be genuinely excited to see the best of these lads with Ozil/Cazorla/Ramsey behind them this season. An opportunistic signing would always be welcome, but that is more a case of circumstance.
The same can't be said about the midfield though. Rosicky is disgruntled, and Arteta has been out for almost the whole season. Flamini is just past it. We don't have Diaby filling a spot anymore. Santi is sublime, but we need to be proactive with his age and contract topics on the (not so) distant horizon to be reckoned with. Apart from probably Zelalem, I don't think any other youth/reserves are ready for stepping up. That leaves us with Coq, Rambo and (semi-crocked) Jack. Ox, if you want to stretch it. It would be a really good summer if we replace Flamini with a top class player - the ruthlessness we are showing would mean that Coq will also step it up with more competition than what Flamini has had to offer.
I would love to see Arteta and Rosicky retire and stay with us, but that's more of a pipe dream to be honest.

I agree with you Sri. Next position we need to invest in is in the midfield. We need to. Can't rely on players staying fit like we have in recent years.
Cazorla ain't that young either and he will need his rest at stages throughout the season. I think we saw a run of games towards the run in of the season in which he underperformed a bit and that was mostly down to fatigue imo.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We've signed 16 year old Romanian Vlad Dragomir from Poli Timisoara. Midfielder, captains Romania U16s, has made a couple of first team appearance for his club. A bit of history being made as he's the first Romanian to be ever signed by Arsenal.
Also has a pretty cool name.

We've already signed a Cyprian defender called Kostas Pileas, and French duo Jean Reine-Adelaide and Yassin Fortune. So the overhaul at youth level is happening as expected.

Don't think it would be a problem considering Coquelin has never played for the France National Team and I highly doubt he considers his spot guaranteed, no one's should be, least of all his after how close he was to being unceremoniously tossed out before he blew up last season. Everyone should accommodate competition.

According to this, Schneiderlin said that he is negotiating with a club and hopes to conclude a deal in the coming days.
Didn't say which club, only that he thinks he will continue in the Premier League.
Pls make this happen Arsene

I wish it's just Spurs and us, Man Utd have been linked aswell.
I'm convinced he would join us though over both, I just doubt any of our interest is true.

Real Madrid are actively pursuing Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny and are prepared to spend €30m on the player. [@francefootball]

If Madrid really wanted Koscielny we'd know about it. They're hardly the most secretive club when it comes to their transfer targets.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
or Otamendi.
I like Schneiderlin but I don't want to pay more than 20m for him. Also I don't think we are in for him because it's far too quiet at our end. Think he will go to United.
Vlad Dragomir has a name of a champion. Might just get back into U18s if all these youth signings happen

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
cant see us spending 20+ M on Him anyway
last summer Coquelin wasnt even in plans....
i want an alternative to Coquelin
what Arteta was supposed to be for us in Carrick-esque mould
even if that player is in his 30s
not easy to find
----
Coq vs Schneid is debatable tbh

Coq > Schneiderlein.
Still don't buy into this Schneiderlein train - he's reallz good and all that, but he's not exactly what we need. Maybe last summer, but not with Coq around now.
Rather get back on the Illara train
Also, Koscielny thing was funny, to put it mildly.

+1
But I would certainly take him if Illarra isn't possible because he is better than Flamini and rather have two good DMs than just one.
