Looks like the culling and overhaul is continuing at that level.
Not saying Chelsea's way of hoarding youth players is good, but we haven't had many good players making the cut in recent years. Things have gone down a fair bit since FA Youth Cup 2009 squad.
To be fair Akpom, Gnabry and Bellerin have made the breakthrough in recent years. Gnabry was only stopped by a long term injury and is now back. Bellerin is a first team regular and Akpom has made the team several times but struggled to find first team football over Giroud/Welbeck, needs to impress in his loan spells.
Crowley, Pleguezuelo and Zelalem are expected to make the first team in the coming years aswell so that's okay I think.
Nowadays only those who are very good make first team appearances and that's a good thing.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
This is a debate for another thread, but most of the successful youth players at Arsenal don't actually come from their academy. Only Wilshere and Akpom of the current first team squad came through Hale End, while all the others - Szczesny, Gibbs, Bellerin, Coquelin, Ramsey, Gnabry, Chamberlain, Walcott - were brought in from other academies at a young age. Guys like Zelalem, Crowley and Pleguezuelo are the same. At least there's Chris Willock, who's been amazing for the England U17s recently.
Anyway, no doubt Arsenal will continue to be proactive in bringing in young players. I just wished they signed more defenders. We're always picking up attacking midfielders and forwards (like the two French lads we've signed recently).
Something that may be of interest: Southampton apparently bid for Krychowiak. Interest in that type of midfielder may suggest they're looking at Schneiderlin replacements.

Di Marzio says Milan have activated Jackson Martinez's £25m release clause. Check another off the list.

More on Krychowiak:

£22mil release clause is not that bad for a high quality DM like him

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Do we Need both him and Coquelin in the squad?
rather different profile of midfielder
would have been on our radar and could get him for cheap straight from Ligue 1 rather than hefty price tag of now

Krychowiak
I would love us to sign him but it all depends on whether Flamini leaves.

Guess we've signed Cech then because we're closer to signing him than to not.

Real Sociedad say Joel Campbell is interested in joining and that David Moyes sees him as a false 9 behind Carlos Vela.
Throw in Flamini to play just behind him and they'll have a troika of Arsenal rejects pulling the plough

So Atletico have been told they can sign Carlos Tevez for €15million according to AS.
Is there some reason we're not all over this?

He wouldnt want to return to England i presume.
But again,i dont believe what AS says.Atletico's president yesterday stated that he has his heart set on returning to Boca and that it'd be hard to fight a feeling.

That's the drift I sort of get. Diego Simeone spoke about it pretty hopefully but if he has his heart set on returning home then no one in Europe has a chance. Shame as he still has a few years in the tank.

Sunderland offer Arsenal £2million to loan Carl Jenkinson but Gunners will not allow permanent move
Report claims West Ham still want Jenkinson but the asking price for the loan is proving difficult while Arsenal have "no intention" of letting him leave permanently as he still has a future at the club.
Good to hear

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I wonder how much we could get by selling Jenkinson? £10m at least if some clubs are ready to offer £2m for a one year loan deal.
We should sell him now that he is still highly valued.

Petr Cech interested in Arsenal move ahead of Chelsea talks
Goalkeeper Petr Cech will meet with Chelsea officials today to discuss his desire to leave the club.
Cech would like to join Arsenal, but the Premier League champions are reluctant to let him move there unless they receive a home-grown player as part of the deal.
PSG are also interested and Chelsea would prefer to sell to the French champions for a fee of around £11m. Cech, who has been at Chelsea for 11 seasons and has a year left on his contract, would rather remain in London, where his family is settled.

His interest and resolve have to be rock solid and Abramovich has to be on his side because we're definitely not giving up anyone they want.

An unnamed Premier League club is among four to have made an official bid for Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, according to Sky sources.
We understand the club in question is NOT Liverpool, despite recent speculation linking the Argentine with the Merseyside club
==========
Also Dzeko linked with £20m move to Roma
would still take him tbf

Wouldn't be surprised if it was United tho. And wouldn't be at all surprised if English interest doesn't change his mind about going back to Argentina.
