No, I'm not. Perhaps he did badly at United (haven't watched a single game), but he was very good for 3 seasons as RW for Madrid, although he was better last season playing as a weird Central-left midfielder.

Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
Mangala definitely came short of expectation. Kompany and Demichellis both were hit and miss last season and Mangala failed to capitalize on that, he looked just as shit as both of the senior players.
Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
He was consistently sub par at RW. He was good at LW and his best at LM.free_cat wrote:No, I'm not. Perhaps he did badly at United (haven't watched a single game), but he was very good for 3 seasons as RW for Madrid, although he was better last season playing as a weird Central-left midfielder.

I mean in England you don't for most parts get any sort of time on the ball. football in England is played at a faster pace than the rest of Europe. The Franchise wrote:MR BOND wrote:whats a myth. that in England there is more pressure on the ball and you have less time to play.S wrote:

If you close down space in one place, you leave it open in another. That's football.
Im curious as to what you really mean.

Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
Di Maria is struggling because Van Gal dont know how to use him. Di maria has to be played away from the goal as he isnt most intelligent player out there..he will lose ball and cross the ball unnecessarily if he played closer to the goal...which is what happening with MANU. Play him as a midfielder and use that engine....dont buy a ferrari and drive it like a Fiat.
Ozil simply dont have any motivation. While he wasnt exactly known for his work rate, it was much better in Madrid than what he is showing right now. He wasnt untouchable at Real and Mou wouldnt allow any kind of laziness from his players....can we say the same about Arsenal and Wenger?

wrong,as most teams in La Liga haunts in packets and also most teams Real faced plays with 10 men behind the ball and compact...only players who has any time on the ball is CBs and Deep play makers....same applies for Barcelona too.
Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
football is faster in England than in spain mate. and as you say. if teams are getting 10 men behind the ball that would mean thay are sitting back. sitting back is not playing a high pressure game. so ozil and di maria would. as I said be under less pressure.Adit wrote:MR BOND wrote:I mean in England you don't for most parts get any sort of time on the ball. football in England is played at a faster pace than the rest of Europe. The Franchise wrote:

La Liga teams generally dont put their defense line with in the penalty box,Most english teams does that. While i agree with football in England being more fast paced but that doesnt mean players have less time on the ball. Infact Cristiano Ronaldo had more time on the ball in EPL than in La Liga hence he changed his style, he learned to pass (yeah he was absolute shet at passing when he came), he stopped ball hogging to a limit and became more of a striker. Same applies to Bale, who is struggling with lack of space to run into and shoot.
Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
Bale struggled as a winger in England too for like last 3 years of his Spurs career, but of course that doesn't fit the narrative.

That's not true. There's actually less pressure, and more time, in most games.MR BOND wrote:whats a myth. that in England there is more pressure on the ball and you have less time to play.

so when players like Shevchenko. Crespo. di maria. ozil. veron and the likes come to England they find it hard because they have to much time and space on the ball.Hapless_Hans wrote:That's not true. There's actually less pressure, and more time, in most games.

are you just cut and pasting the same reply. the resion most top class players flop in England is the game is to fast. to physical. and they don't like it up em as thay say. if in England you get more time and space on the ball. and the epl is not that great. why didn't these world class players smash it.

Maybe because the coaches in England don't understand how to best use these players?MR BOND wrote:why didn't these world class players smash it.![]()

I talked about "these" players. Some coaches just can't work with certain players. It happens.
(P.S.: I fixed the quotes in the posts above - it would really be cool if people would learn how to properly quote and edit stuff they quote in a way that it still makes sense)

and some players can hack a fast physical game. and from what ive seen from ozil and di maria they defo liked it better playing for Madrid with time and space than they do in England with players in your face.rwo power wrote:I talked about "these" players. Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
It differs from game to game, coach to coach. Maybe it was different a few years ago, when some of the players you name came to England.MR BOND wrote:and some players can hack a fast physical game. and from what ive seen from ozil and di maria they defo liked it better playing for Madrid with time and space than they do in England with players in your face.rwo power wrote:I talked about "these" players. But I'm pretty sure, looking at this season, players in the PL were not more "in the face" of their opponents than in other leagues, rather the contrary.

Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
Fabregas: “He [Özil] is going to enjoy the Premier League an awful lot. It is a league with much more space and Ozil is a player that, given time and space, will kill you.”
Fabregas: “In England opponents come chasing you and it is easier to play a quick one-two and go beyond him into space. You can’t do that in Spain where you are likely to be up against two very shrewd defensive midfielders.”
Suarez: “There's little space for my game here [at Barcelona]. It's more difficult than at Liverpool.”

You're making too many wrong statements here.MR BOND wrote:and some players can hack a fast physical game. and from what ive seen from ozil and di maria they defo liked it better playing for Madrid with time and space than they do in England with players in your face.
PL has less time and space compared to La Liga
Players like Oezil and Di Maria dont get pressured in Liga
English football is played at a faster pace than Spanish football
All incorrect statements. You need to watch some more Liga games.

Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
There's absolutely no way you get less time and space on the ball against Hull, West Brom or Stoke than you get against Freiburg, Köln, or Frankfurt.
Not to speak of teams like Leverkusen and Gladbach, who press and close down much more coordinated than most PL top teams, even if they have inferior players.

Re: Pochettino, Özil, Navas, Shaw + PL strikers
in 90% of the games both players played for Madrid they just out played and dominated other teams. they were winning games by 2-3 goals and didn't need to over work them selfs to play well and win. they come to England and things are not that easy for them. instead of teams like stoke and west brom rolling over for arsenal and letting ozil run the show they don't. they get in the faces of the arsenal players. they kick them they they break up play. they pretty much play the game excactly the way players like di maria and ozil don't like to play it. some players will fight back and give as good as thay get. ( players like sanchez. suarez. costa...) others just hide and don't show much fight. ( ozil and di maria.) being just 2 of them.S wrote:MR BOND wrote:and some players can hack a fast physical game. and from what ive seen from ozil and di maria they defo liked it better playing for Madrid with time and space than they do in England with players in your face.rwo power wrote:I talked about "these" players. so if the epl is not great. and you get more time and space. how is it that some world class stars flop.
