it's funny how thiese things work though, some Bayern fans have Pep, the best coach in recent times, and they cant wait for him to go...

except for fergie, no coach is unanimous in his club unless he wins the double liga+cl every season

its done, at this point, the least we can do is give the man time to work with the squad and instill his methods. i may not like the move, but that's history now. for me, the team comes first, before any player, before any coach.....i don't want to hear people complaining if after the first game he doesn't get a positive result or the team doesn't play well. it takes time for a coach to instill his ideas and time for players to get used to it (which is one of the reasons why switching coaches ever so often is frowned upon).

rafa is here now, and like it or not, any madrid fan should support him and the team, and hope he can stay for the long haul, that way a proper system is instilled and he can speak up with regards to signing the right players for the team....despite his past failures, you have to give him benefit of the doubt, he hasn't coached a team like this before, and great players can make the coach's job a lot easier...at least the man knows what's at stake here.

right, because of what exactly? because he is fashionable? what experience does he have coaching big clubs? playing CL? winning it?

Well for one Madrid fancy themselves playing exciting, attacking football (which you did NOT do under Mou and look how that went). Under Unai you would of been closer to doing that than under the fat waiter.

Can't wait to hear the media reports when he parks the bus at the Camp Nou.

Given that a coach lasts for a maximum of 3 seasons with us ,it stands to reason that almost every top level coach not associated with Barca will be given the chance to manage Madrid at some point in time. S fairly sure Klopp and Emery among others will be in the Bernabeu hot seat one day. But first, Rafa must get his due.

Mou was sacked in part because his tactics were underdog tactics in big games...  we sat back and played tactical in all the big games.  Well, you can do that if you win trophies.  If you don't win trophies, you get sacked... and even then, there's a requirement that Madrid play good football.  So if you play crap tactics like Mou in the big games, you will eventually get sacked regardless of what you do.

@Nick you're wasting your energy. People are making it seem like Rafa is some scrub coach. Ancelotti made exactly the same mistake he has made all his career and flopped another league title. The man was about to be fired before Ramos saved him now people are acting like he is coach of the century. Give me a break.

This. No one gave a damn when Madrid got 100+ points and scored the most goals in La Liga history. He left because the dressing room was fractured and he had the biggest gap between 1st and second place in la liga history.

Specially considering that the team finishing 1st was a pale shadow of Pep's barca , one whose manager had to miss large swathes of the season undergoing cancer treatment, not to mention getting hammered 0- 7 in the UCL.

Main reason.  But people put up with you being in asshole IF you play beautiful football AND you win trophies.  That's how he got into his 3rd year.  But in his 3rd year, Madrid won nothing and were fractured AND played crap football.  Yeah we pummeled the lower tier teams by 5+ goals...  but we lost to Atleti in CDR final, lost to Bayern in CL semis after we decided to go tactical once we got even AND we were out of La Liga before January.  If Mou was developing a great football style, he may have stayed.  But we weren't...  so him being an asshole just made the decision very easy.

Regarding Carlo....  he wasn't perfect. However, we did win CDR and CL in his first year.  The issue was that we didn't win trophies this year and lost to all our rivals mostly during his tenure.  Bad combo. I think the decision was waaaaaay premature by Flo.  But it is what it is.  Madrid requires results and he got none this season.

Regarding Rafa...  he has even less of a league track record than Carlo does.  So i don't see how this is an improvement.  That said, he's the Madrid coach and he's obviously a good coach.  Good enough for Madrid?  We will see.  His shenanigans with management and players won't fly at all here.  He needs to be more politically savvy.

That Benzema isn't in Benitez' plans and he wants to play Ronaldo up top with Bale on the left. Cuatro is also reporting it now but Inda said it a couple days ago before Benitez was even appointed:
