Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
Walking to the hotel one night, apparently there was a match ad the Beskitas crowd were so loud and thunderous, I actually felt the stadium shake from their singing.
Or maybe we were just having a mini earthquake in Istanbul

Plan is to have video refs in every game in the 18/19 season.

In the Eredivisie?
That would be great. How would that work for offsides? Official ref wouldn't whistle until videoref signals it?

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
In general the ref still works the same as he does now. So for example yesterday he gave a yellow card. Then the video ref contacted him and told him that it was a red card so he gave a red card instead.
So regarding offside you still have the linesman to decide on offside but the videoref is allowed to contact the ref if he sees something wrong. That way the game is still completely fluid as it is only interrupted if there was an error by the referee. However I don't think the video referee is allowed to interact on regular offside situations, only if they result in a goal. From what I read FIFA allows the vref to contact the actual referee about goals, red cards, penalties and if the ref books the wrong player.

Well that's wrong, what if the ref calls the offside and it wasn't? They just killed a goal opportunity. Offsides should be ruled by technology/videorefs, as they can't be controlled by linesmen at all, it's physically impossible. They have to guess.

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
It's already a lot more than I would have expected from FIFA. If it works well I wouldn't be surprised to see them allowing the videoref to act on different situations as well. They are still afraid of breaking the flow of the game too much. In general the videoref is currently allowed to act on situations that break the flow anyway.
