He shouldn't be lacking confidence . He's the only 9 of the team so his spot is guaranted as long as he plays well. The style of play suits him more, more direct.

It's not only about competition but the pressure from the fans too. He has a knack for missing easy chances so when the fans become restless he probably panicks and everything he does turns out wrong

Man, I wanna laugh and make fun but the 2nd to last play just summed up a man who literally has no confidence in his own ability. Rounds the keeper to just pass it back.

The goals almost have to come. He's going to get 5-10 great chances a game with Di Maria, Verratti, Rabiot, Pastore, Lucas Moura, Ben Arfa, etc. passing him the ball. He can miss them all like he did this last game.

The crazy thing is that he still makes fantastic runs and works his arse off... but his technique has completely abandoned him. He was never a great technician; but in terms of finishing technique, he was very good.

It's all mental. He needs to score a few and just go for things as opposed to hesitate so much.

After seeing that video, I have a hard time believing he even had finishing tech to begin with. Not even Higuain is that bad at his worst.

He did. Blanc did some things well... but managing the forwards other than Ibra wasn't one of them. He completely deferred to whatever Ibra wanted and Ibra felt threatened by Cavani when Cavani was bought.

Ibra basically ruined him. Once he gets his confidence back he will return to form. His nickname isn't "EL Matador" for nothing. Some of you must never have watched him at Napoli when he played as a #9 and got full attention.

I'd still bite your hands off to get him to Liverpool. He still has tremendous work rate for a ST. He still has amazing movement and is generally very good off the ball. He still has great aerial prowess. He still has great pace and athleticism. He still puts himself in positions to get goals. His technique was never good and now mentally he's lost some composure so it's hurt whatever little technique he had. And with that it's hurt his finishing as well and he wasn't that great of a finisher to begin with. Even or Napoli he used to miss lots and lots of easy chances even if he did average 30+ goals.
