Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
Monaco is not poor offensively. They just choose to cover defensively first because all the CBs are slow footed... they tried to play expansive offensive footy to start the season and they got crushed defensively. BUT, when they decide to attack, they are quite good at it:
- Toulalan covers the defensive mid and Moutinho/Kondogbia attack
= Kurzawa and Fabinho are good offensive fullbacks
- Silva and Carrasco are talented wing players
The only soft spot is CF because Martial is really young and Berbatov is always injured. So the efficiency is really up and down.

Same here. Single handedly cleared many chances which could have been sitters.

he looked very promising these last few weeks after being benched for most of the season.
he has the potential to be a decent striker , nothing too fancy tho .

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
They've scored just 39 goals so far in Ligue One , less than Montpellier, my idea is they aren't capable to score many goals . I mean this with " poor offensively " . This because they miss of a CF . If I want to watch many goals I don't watch Monaco tbh

Anyway just a clarification , the referee was right to not give the red card to Carvalho . Because the ball was not " on side " but " up in the air ". I remind to have learnt this rule in past.

Why did Monaco get rid of Falcao ?
Insane goalscorer , which is exactly what theyr need right now. now, he's benching at Man U who is paying him, I guess, and Monaco might not be able to score twice against Juve.

Juve need to pull a masterclass and get a 0-0 to laugh at Monaco for having a supposedly steel defence.

Juve-Monaco mainly. Atletico-madrid on the side.
Juventus playing catenaccio and looks like they are waiting to see how the match develops over time. If monaco scores, then Juve will come out, otherwise 0-0 is fine for them. That seems to be the philosophy.
Chelleini needs to be careful though

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
They wouldn't have used those tactics if the 1st leg score was different imo.
Dark horse for CL. Think they have the best defence amongst the rest of the Semi finalists.

tactics bro
Yeah tbf,i dint like this small team tactics either.Very reminiscent of last season.Adjusting to the situation of the tie i guess. If we had conceded in the home leg, without doubt we would've come to Monaco and tried to score.
I dont know if we'll get rekt but we'll be very hard to score on.Anyway nothing to lose.First semi in like 12 yrs.Feels really great to see Juve make this far.

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
Not surprising though. Even at Milan especially in the CL he had a habit of giving in to the smaller teams, when we should have been dominating.
But you guys won, which is the most important thing after all.

Don't think it's even an Allegri thing tbh we've been doing it for 4 Years now. It works most of the time but it leaves you open to making just one single mistake and being punished by a team you should be brushing aside.

Allegri: 'Tactics dictated by conditions'
By Football Italia staff
Max Allegri reveals Carlos Tevez almost didn’t play in Monaco and these problems prompted his change of system.
The Bianconeri had won the first leg 1-0 and seemed to rely rather too heavily on that fact, surviving under pressure at the Stade Louis II for a goalless draw.
It was their third consecutive Champions League clean sheet and books their spot in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2003.
“Tonight the objective was to reach the semi-final. We might not have played very attractive football, but it’s difficult to take on Monaco and we made many technical errors,” the Coach told Sport Mediaset.
“I think it was a good performance defensively, as we allowed little or nothing to Monaco. At the end of the day, the result counts for more than the performance tonight.
“We knew that we had to score to be sure and had two chances before the break where we could’ve done better. We didn’t make the most of other opportunities either, but we also ran very few risks at the back.”
Juventus are through to the semi-finals along with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“I am pleased for the lads, as I think they deserved this semi-final for all they’ve done in the Champions League. We only lost twice by 1-0, undeservedly in my view, and we always did well in the other games.
“These are the three biggest clubs in Europe. I can certainly guarantee it will be a completely different game against these sides than with Monaco.”
Allegri used a 4-3-1-2 system in the first leg, but moved to a 3-5-2 for the second leg and defended this switch.
“I decided this system because I saw the players every day in training. Tevez until two hours beforehand was in doubt to play at all because he was vomiting for two days straight. Vidal had fever and Pirlo had played two games in a row after being out for two months.
“I had to take into account the need for changes from the bench if we had gone behind. Considering the situation of the players going in, I thought it was the best choice.
“I knew full well this could mean a bad performance, but the objective was to reach the semi-final in these conditions.”
Allegri has taken Juve beyond where Antonio Conte had reached in the Champions League, so has he finally won the supporters over?
“I think it’s normal for Juventus fans to be wary after replacing a Coach who had won three straight Scudetti, especially as it all happened in a day.
“Not many Coaches have gone from Milan to Juventus. I’d already won the Scudetto and Super Cup. Work is the only way forward.
“This team has to keep going and above all improving, as we are in the Champions League semi-finals and the Coppa Italia Final. At the moment I am very happy.”

Re: CL QF: Juventus Vs Monaco
Decided to watch this game instead of the more glamorous Madrid tie, coz it disappointed me so bad in the first-leg. Well, this was even worse. But it was a smart game plan from Juventus, play for the 0 - 0 and even if Monaco score once, you're still going to extra-time.
Monaco showed a lot of desire and some of their players must have been absolutely exhausted by the full-time whistle, but their mistake was to play it too slowly and cautiously when they did get the ball to the attacking third in controlled fashion. They tried to create the perfect scoring chance, but instead should have shoot more and tried riskier passes. They worked so hard to get the ball and start attacks, but in the end didn't test Buffon all that much.
