It's not because Arsenal's prices are much higher than anyone elses despite the fact the entire league are too high as it is.

srigooner wrote:Wait, why do you call out Arsenal specifically?
I find it a bit funny when people who are not in UK buying season tickets bring that up to beat Arsenal.
However, even for the sake of being a good samaritan and discussion, the average increase since 2006 in Arsenal's ticket prices is a WHOOPING 1.6%. Compare that with inflation, oil money clubs, player wages, transfer fees, etc in football today, compared to 2006.
Fact is, there was a promise from the board to reduce pressure on ticket prices when Arsenal managed to navigate out of the doldrums which building a stadium brought along. The club froze prices for the last 2 or 3 seasons. You can't possibly economically suddenly decide to sell tickets for 20% of the price. Things could be better, but they are hardly worthy of all the stick and propaganda that 'leading newspapers' have been spewing.

According to l'Equipe of 2 days ago, this is how it breaks down taking into account all the new deals:

Does it take into account the new 5 billion PL tv deal which is soon in effect?
10m per game apparently lol, imagine paying 10m for QPR vs Hull smh.

Re: TV Money Top 5 Leagues | 2013-14
yeah the one i put up there was created to take into account the brand new EPL deal... to show the margin EPL has now.
Tbh, i'm surprised the other leagues aren't blowing Ligue 1 out of the water. I love Ligue 1... but it's not the most entertaining.
It's not even like Bein Sport bought the rights for a crazy amount. They lost out to Canal + in the bidding for the top games in both league and CL .

Yeah it does.
£5billion for 3 years is about €7billion for years. Since the table is annual it's around €2.33billion for PL.

EPL/Sky-BT earns/recoups large portion of that money by selling TV rights to other regions (South Asia-Star). Don't the German FA/TV network do the same!!!rwo power wrote:Well, that's because in Germany people don't really like to pay for PayTV. Sky Germany has maybe 4 mio subscribers (only a small part of which actually subscribe to the sports package), while in the UK, Sky has about 11 mio subscribers, among them 5 mio Sky Sports subscribers.Don't call me James wrote:And Bundesliga is just laughable. Rwo indulge us por favor.
Moreover, in the UK, Sky has competition and they got into a bidding war, raising the money offered to the PL. So you can expect a lot more money being generated in the UK TV market.

I think these are domestic deals only from the brief interpolation that i did... foreign distribution is bid on separately. At least that's the case for Ligue 1. The bidding is done for different timespans too.
Just to give you the current Ligue 1 deals:
Domestic: 607 mil until 2016. From 2016-2020, it will be 748,5 mil per year.

Foreign: 32,5 mil currently until 2018. Bein got it from 2018-2024 (6 years) for 480 mil total or 80 mil per season.

Total: 639,5 mil from now until 2016. 781 mil from 2016-2018. 828,5 mil from 2018-2024.

Re: TV Money Top 5 Leagues | 2013-14
Yeah, foreign TV rights are negotiated separately. I think clubs are allowed to negotiate their own broadcasting rights for foreign markets? Cannot be arsed to search now, but I think remembering at least Manchester United breaking their global areas down into segments where they negotiate their own broadcasting rights. Not sure.
Anyway, there should be some sort of cap on ticket prices and player wages. I don't think this new deal is going to affect the ticket prices, though, at least not increasing them. But it really is insane, crazy and wrong if all that money just keeps on trickling down to transfer fees and player wages. And I'm even pro-capitalism, but it just won't be healthy any longer and will feel wrong to too many people.

Only partly as in Germany the matches are played at times that are mostly convenient for local match-goers and they are not set up for overseas TV audiences.iftikhar wrote:EPL/Sky-BT earns/recoups large portion of that money by selling TV rights to other regions (South Asia-Star). They are showing some games (both League & Cup) recently. Or I have noticed them recently. But the time is similar to that of EPL games (8-9 PM, Bangladesh Time).rwo power wrote:Only partly as in Germany the matches are played at times that are mostly convenient for local match-goers and they are not set up for overseas TV audiences.iftikhar wrote:EPL/Sky-BT earns/recoups large portion of that money by selling TV rights to other regions (South Asia-Star). On a standard matchday, you have 1 match Friday night at 20:30 GMT+1, 5 matches parallel on Saturday 15:30 GMT+1, 1 match on Saturday 18:30 GMT+1 and on Sunday, there is one match at 15:30 GMT+1 and one on 17:30 GMT+1.iftikhar wrote:They are showing some games (both League & Cup) recently. The French League also have this, right! And they show them here. I skipped some as I thought they were repeats or something.rwo power wrote:On a standard matchday, you have 1 match Friday night at 20:30 GMT+1, 5 matches parallel on Saturday 15:30 GMT+1, 1 match on Saturday 18:30 GMT+1 and on Sunday, there is one match at 15:30 GMT+1 and one on 17:30 GMT+1.iftikhar wrote:They are showing some games (both League & Cup) recently. I have read an article in ESPN few days back. It appears German League authority is seriously considering changing the schedule to attract bigger TV deal.
