Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Not like Majó was the front-runner to begin with. Don't think Laud's inclusion really makes much difference anyways. Whilst the younger socis, ignorant of the past, think it makes them a certified hard-core culé to hate on any player who's made the switch, the older socis who lived the Cruyff era and knw the specifics of each case, on the contrary, still hold Laud in high regard. Still, I'm disappointed Laud decided to involve himself in electoral politics. Must be their Mallorca connection.
Anyway, both will hold a pressy on July 4, and I'm sure we'll know more there.
For now, Majó's membership open to all, and electronic voting for Intl socis seems appealing. At the same time, such a proposition may not go down too well with the catalan conservatives.

When you're associating your name with a candidacy, who's not even the hot fav, you're limiting your options, atleast for the foreseeable. He should 've taken the Klopp-route, who apparently was approached by one pres. candidate, but rejected him stating that he accepts job offers from an elected president, not a potential one.

It really isn't much of a secret that his agent is a complete imbecil. No idea why he keeps him around.

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has accused rival Josep Maria Bartomeu of leading the club "to a very delicate situation".
Laporta, who was at the helm at Camp Nou from 2003 until 2010, confirmed this week that he will stand for election on July 18 "with the aim of making Barcelona a club for everyone again".
And the 52-year-old has taken a swipe at one of his opponents, with Bartomeu having presided over a tempestuous period marred by a transfer ban and legal proceedings over the deal to sign Neymar.
"We need your help more than ever to win. Now is the moment of truth," Laporta said to reporters on Friday.
"We want to rebuild a model based on Johan Cruyff, Unicef, Catalonia and La Masia. We know there are a lot of things happening in our country. Our candidacy has a special sensitivity to these issues.
"There are many differences with the candidacy of Bartomeu. His way of leading the club led it to a very delicate situation."
Laporta does, however, concede that he is not the favourite to be elected to lead the treble-winners forward.
"I do not see myself as favourite, we'll have to convince Barcelona fans that our club model is the right one," he added.
"It's normal that the former president has more options but polls give us chances, too."

Using La Masia more, focusing on youth development and bring our involvement with UNICEF back to the forefront. It's pretty obvious. The La Masia point is even more pronounced as Bartman and Rosbin have crippled it by firing important staff.

That those things should be valued most. Current board pushed Cruyff away and he's a freaking icon of this club ffs
They are just running the club like a business and don't care what Barca is actually all about. If you hear Barca you should be thinking of La Masia, Unicef and Catalonia, not of Qatar.

Farcicial. This sentimental talk is all well and good back in 2000 but teams like United and Chelsea are getting 60-70 mill from their sponsors. We'll see how many of our masia boys stay when these English and petrodollar clubs offer vastly higher wages, especially with this new prem tv deal kicking in. Like it or not football has become a business, but I wouldnt expect a guy who drove barca to the financial precipice to understand that. As a foreign fan there's one thing I care about. Beautiful attacking football. Unicef on the front shirt? So ppl will see it on tv and have a bleeding heart moment? We'd be better served using the qatar money to win and make a charitable donation if it matters so much...

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
All of the candidates plan to cut ties with qatar besides Bart... It's a fcking disgrace that this piece of chit shines right in the middle of our beautiful kit and it also doesn't say well about us with all the corruption talk going on and stuff. But it's not like they'd dump a real sponsor entirely, Laporta claimed to have 5 or 6 as good offers economically-wise. He means that those things he named (La masia, unicef etc) should play a bigger role not that he'd burn every bridge and live in his own world... lol
Also, Benedito wants Monchi as his sporting director (I think its Benedito, somebody surely does) Monchi is a goat as far as sporting directors go

"Socios will be able to choose the shirt design from two options presented to them"
BANG! Abidal will be Barca's sporting director if Laporta is elected!
Abidal: "I understand Joan Laporta perfectly. We have to try to recuperate La Masia. I hope the socios share my excitement."

Re: 2015 Presidential Elections
Abidal, Alexanko and Giuly back Laporta.
Also, ex Basket players Audie Norris, Roger Grimau and Roger Esteller.
Abidal as a sporting director is a gamble. We have no idea on his ability to scout the market and pick good players, but we know he would be a dedicated person with great human values.
Giuly will be part of the staff, Alexanco will go back to working at La Masia, and Laporta will try to convince Cruyff to be our president of honour again.

Laporta: The choice is between Qatar and a Barça in the courts, like with Rosell and Bartomeu, or Unicef, with those that are clean
Laporta: The money? We will be able to generate sources.
