I can see it now

signs with LA, gets loaned to Everton and stays there

Comes on as a sub against pool in the derby. Scores the equalizer. Helps them qualify for the CL and scores the winner in an FA Cup final.

which 'European elite team' would need his help enough to pay his wages though?
If he wanted a challenge he sure could go to a second tier top team where he could help, but that would surely include taking a pay cut, and players rarely consider that.

I think Barkley would probably be better served long term as a box to box CM tbh, his vision and close control are not that great but not like Everton would sell to Liverpool anyway.

Anyway out of curiosity what Gerrard ate trying to replace? Istanbul Gerrard or Gerrard of the last couple of years?

I ask because they are completely different players and wonder what the answer is.
